I needed a locking device for my lanai screen doors. My search started with Combi-Bolt CB2000-CHR Combination Bolt Lock Chrome, which I had to return because the bolt would not retract fully. Correcting this design flaw would have required some laborious work with a Dremel tool, which is a non-starter for me. I wanted something that worked right out of the packaging. Perhaps I simply got a lock from a bad batch. Others reported the same problem with the chrome bolt.Instead, I purchased this particular Combi-Bolt, in black rather than chrome, which fully retracts. It is inconspicuous, easy to set, easy to install, and completely functional. Just what I needed.Update 05/02/2022. Although this particular model is no longer available on Amazon, it seems to be listed in many variants. This review may help some readers from discovering a critical design flaw in similar locks.My initial reaction was very positive, hence my original rating was 5 stars. However, I found out the hard way that when the lock is open, the code wheels can not be turned to keep the lock in the open position. My pool service arrived, found the lock open, tried to turn the code wheels. No dice. So my pool guy pushed the reset dial into the reset position and spun the wheels. Then he closed the lock, moved the reset dial out of the reset position, and spun the dials again.Net: The lock was set to a code known only to God. Anyone could do this to this particular lock, accidentally or intentionally, if it was originally found in the open position.I solved the problem by picking the lock (not easy to do) and grinding off the reset dial with my handy Dremel tool. The lock now has my preferred combination, with no means of ever resetting it.As noted above, this lock seems to be available on Amazon in a number of variants. If you purchase one of those variants, you may wish to check to see if it can be locked in the open position.

We installed this lock on a closet door that we keep our supplies at our airbnb. We only go into the closet when one guest leaves and we have to clean the unit as this is where we keep our supplies. Very mild use. About a month ago, we dialed the code and it would not unlock. since then, it has failed every time we have locked it, causing us to have to fiddle with the dial until it unlocks by chance.(this is something anyone can do so what's the point of using this lock)...if it wasn't way past my return date, I would be returning this immediately!! Do not buy!

I wouldn't give this 1 star! haven't had this lock for a year and it already broke and won't open. It is very rarely used so I know the problem isn't overuse. Not worth the money
