Easy-to-Make Whirligigs (Dover Crafts: Woodworking)

Some instructions need more details. Good for ideas.

The patterns are not so easy to make, as described from title. Was disappointed. Other than that shipped and received quickly!

Although this is not the ultimate whirligig maker's how-to book, it is an excellent starter book. I personally have not found the best whirligig handbook, but this is pretty close. Choosing the right book depends a lot on what you plan on doing--what kind of whirligigs you want to make. This book gives a good overview that is clear enough to help you get started. I just finished my first whirligig. Even with the help of this book, I still had to do a lot of trial and error steps. I had to redo several things because no book was clear enough about what to do.

My husband was excited to receive this as a gift.

Shippers were fast and this is a good thing. It made me realize that I needed a different kind of tutorial for making "simple whirligigs." The instruction in 4 out of 4 of the manuals (captioned as Easy to Make Whirligigs) that I ordered that day were anything but simple. Simple maybe for someone that is a carpenter. I have no experience with a miter box, and while I have all of these tools; the directions should have well as been written in Greek. I have been all over YouTube looking for someone that could actually give a tutorial on these or any other directions on how to make these seemingly easy wind spinners, or even a video sold as a stand alone. Still looking. Still looking. And this coming from someone who is highly educated, and very diverse. Maybe the caption should have read; Easy to make Whirligigs for the person that has a basic knowledge of woodworking. Any wonderful input that someone could shoot me would be greatly appreciated. Maybe then I could enjoy these four "EASY TO DO PROJECTS Manuels!"

Good intro about the subject matter. Parts and sizing descriptions are good. The propeller mechanisms have been problematic on 2 of 3 that I have made. Wish there was a trouble shooting section. It's a good primer if you are mechanically inclined. It is not a step 1, 2 3 on how to do it.

I retired a couple of years ago, and last year I bought a scroll saw. I also subscribed to a Scroll Saw and Woodworking magazine. I saw this book advertised in the magazine, so I bought it (and several others). There are a couple of whirligigs in here that I'm interested in making as gifts. Easy to follow instructions. I would have given it a 5 star rating if there were a few more projects to my liking in there. But I hardly ever rate anything a 5. Good book.

Well written book with fairly easy instructions to build different whirligigs. I recommend whirligig crafters to buy several different books on the subject to get different ideas and suggestions.

Brought alongside a few others on the same subject and there are a few good tips and tricks in this one as well as easy to follow plans
