Per Sharon Basso-Mates review, “After mixing the two solutions together, putting the sponge top back on and squeezing, no color came out. I looked at the top to see if I had to pierce it, and pushed a nail through to make sure there was a hole for the color to go through. Tried squeezing it again, and the bottom of the tube burst - sending color flying all over the bathroom! It was quite a mess”.The same thing happened to me in our new house and brand new painted bathroom which we had to repaint. But not in time for my 82 year old father visiting from out of state the following day to see our new house. And my adult children. Didn’t leave a great impression and was very embarrassing.Even after this horrible experience I ordered again because the color was perfect and I made sure to mix the color in our bathroom in our furnished basement where nothing could be ruined. Eventfully the issue was resolved. Although now when you open the box there is color that has leaked all over everything in the box. I need to find another product. Any suggestions are welcome because this product is horrible and is taking advantage of their customers by providing crap merchandise to customers that spend their money and depend on their product.

I have greying dark brown hair. I use this in between salon visits and it colors my roots well. I took off one star because there isn’t enough product for your whole head. I do my part line and around my face. Not enough to do more than that.****UPDATE****I didn’t mention it because I understand that things happen but now I HAVE to say something. I have now received THREE DAMAGED HAIR KITS! THREE! They did send a replacement out and I just opened it and the activator was exploded everywhere. The brown color saturated the box. Same issue as I had with the other two. To add to the irritation, I now have brown stained fingers! Again! I will not be purchasing from this vendor again. The activator cap should be totally sealed onto the bottle to prevent this issue.

Easy application therefore it took less time to color my hair compared to other box hair coloring I’ve used. But, this is the second order I’ve made because the first one, I had to return due to big leak inside and outside the box. This picture I’m sharing is from the second batch as a replacement. I don’t know why this second one still has a leak although minimal but still. It’s a little bit more expensive than the ones I’ve used so.

The product arrived leaking. The first order was returned because it was in too bad of shape. The replacement was also leaking but not as bad and I was able to use it. I probably would not order from Amazon again because of this problem. I would try and find it in a store.

A little expensive, but it works! I’m only 31 and already get pretty bad grays as my roots go out. This first time I bought this the applicator was defective so I couldn’t use the sponge piece, but I gave it another try and ordered again. It works great if you get one with a working applicator!

I am very disappointed with the quality of this product. When my roots come in, I usually spray them with a roots cover up spray. However, this time I wanted to try this product out because I needed something that would cover my roots and not use a product that smeared on my hands or clothing. Needless to say, I was disappointed by the quality of this product. There a few options for colors. I bought the darkest that was offered. After using this product, my roots stood out because it was a different shade from the color I usually buy from Madison Reed. Also, the dispenser did not work. The product kept getting stuck in the tube. I ended up just taking the product out and using a brush to apply it. Eventually I ended up applying the coverup spray because the roots were completely different from the rest of my hair. Overall, poor quality and did not do the job at hiding my roots well. I’m going to have to stick to spraying my hair until the next time I have to dye it.

The color tube exploded at the bottom seal and color went everywhere! It stained my wall, wood floor, my pants and my vanity seat cushion. What a mess! The hole in the sponge cap was plugged and I didn’t realize it so when I squeezed it to get the product to come up through the hole, the bottom of the plastic seal was too weak so it came apart and product came out of the bottom with force and went everywhere! Only one pair of gloves in package, not two per instructions. And in spite of staining so many expensive things in the process, my grey is NOT stained.

This is a great product and so easy to use. I am a first time hair color user and I have natural Afro-American hair. I needed a little grey coverage around my roots and this did the trick! It took under 30 minutes from start to finish. The color looks natural and so shiny when you are done. I already re-ordered. This is a new beauty go to for me!
