Wide variety of recipes for everyone, with lots of great photos.
I have made and blogged so many of Cook's Country and Cook's Illustrated's recipes. They have, yet, to fail me. I downloaded the kindle version of this book, and I'm seeing quite a few of the recipes I've already made. Last night, I made the Huli Huli chicken (and blogged it) for the second time. The chicken is moist and the sauce is sticky, sweet with heat for chili garlic sauce. There are plenty of retro recipes for roast beef (several different ways) and classics such as Salisbury steaks. The Tex-Mex section has plenty of recipes to choose from. How many different ways can you make ribs? There's lots of choose from. Pork chops? There are plenty of Italian recipes-- I recently made the slow-cooker Sunday Gravy but adapted it to my pressure cooker. That was delicious, and a lot less fussy. No problem. The grilling section has become one of my favorites. My husband is slowly evolving into quite the grill master, and the classic barbecue chicken is excellent. I love that there are directions for either a charcoal BBQ or a gas grill. There are great tips, with photos, so you can understand what they are talking about. The photography is absolutely beautiful, with a color photo for every single recipe. On my iPad, the photos really "pop" and I like that I can set it on my recipe stand without having to print out the recipe. I subscribe to all of the magazines, online plus the America's Test Kitchen videos-- and it's totally worth it. This is so worth the investment-- it's helped me to become a much better cook and baker.

Wonderful Everyday Cooking Reference
I have watched this show for years and years and because of that, the recipes in this book almost seem familiar. I have used other America's Test Kitchen cook books in the past and they all have this in common: because they are thoroughly tested they are almost fool proof. I really enjoy the Cook's Country recipes because they usually do not require the same amount of ingredients as the other ATK cook books. And I have found that the Cook's Country recipes are more everyday in nature. There are also product reviews which I have found to be helpful and I enjoy reading why the recipes works. None of the recipes are complicated, no odd ingredients are required and there is a wide range of different types of recipes in the book....everything from grilling to snacks. Enjoy!

Nice resource for someone who seldomly cooks
Wow, there is a superb section in the back which makes suggestions for the best tools, equipment and groceries. Each category has 2 or 3 suggestions, reason for why they were selected and other useful info. I've discovered so many great new products, which I never would have thought to buy if it wasn't for this list. Just the BBQ and Steak sauce recomendation alone were worth the price of this book! For someone who rarely cooks, this is a great resouce. I've filled my whole pantry with a great selection of the basics.

Utterly reliable
There are aren't 'avant garde' fusion, deconstructed, or molecular dishes. There are no requirements for inverted, left-handed organic flour sifters or the like. But we have found the over 200 American-style recipes to be the absolutely most successful examples available. These have all been extensively taste-tested using multiple preparation techniques, heating/baking temperatures and methods, and ingredient quantities and the results are those which have been judged the best. You really can't go wrong using any of the easy-to-follow instructions in this book. Tummies will love you.

In Love
Obsessed. Such a great "down home" cookbook. I love to cook but after having two children - I have a 3 year old and 18 month old I just need to get dinner on the table in a timely manner right now. My little generals DEMAND it. This cookbook has tons of kid and man friendly recipes with a short list of ingredients and huge amount of flavor and success.I love the color photos- the commentary- notes...why it works...tips etc. The book just rocks. I can't wait to cook my way through it! Also- I love the show- the whole cast...just overall a total cook's country/America's Test Kitchen/Cook's Illustrated fan!

Cookbook for cooks everywhere
I love cookbooks and own many of them and use many of them. I love to sit and look through them, sometimes to find something new to make or for just the right dish to make for a potluck or party, and even just for something to read. It gives me that much pleasure. I don't go for the real fancy, tons of work to prepare dishes or very exotic ones, either. Cook's Country is great in that the recipes are easy enough to prepare with step by step instructions, great photos and promises of delicious outcomes.

Awesome recipes and easy to follow!
My hubby asked for this for his birthday because he likes to cook and these recipes are foolproof. We have tried several of them and they really are wonderful. Easy instructions and most recipes are relatively short so you don't need massive amounts of ingredients for shopping trips. There are easy recipes for basic cooks and more expert ones for those more experienced cooks so multiple levels of cooks can use this book. Book itself should hold up well but is paperback so consider that when purchasing. We love it and even I can make a pretty awesome meal (I'm no expert in the kitchen) with these recipes!

Love the program
I love the program on PBS so getting the cook book was a real treat. Now I can set up my recipes before I start cooking. I watch the DVD video's that I bought so now there is no excuse for making any mistakes. The food they prepare looks so yummy. I like the fact that is paperback, better than the hard cover which is a lot builkier. I would recommend this to any cook or wanna be cook

Good series
This book, as with all the America's Test Kitchen offerings, aims to create recipes that teach techniques, problem-solves and provides satisfying results. I am an accomplished cook [sui dixit] but I can often find aspects of their recipes that will improve my cooking.

Love the show and expect great things from the recipes
We enjoy the show on the local PBS- Create channel. It's a Christmas gift for an enthused family member and fan of the show. Looking forward to some great Kitchen outcomes. Nothin's as lovin' like something from Cook's Country ovens!
