I Can Read Music, Vol 2: A note reading book for VIOLIN students

Very Good resource
I really like this series. I use the viola and violin books vol. 1 and 2. Vol. 1 in the violin and viola version allows students to become confident in note recognition and rhythm seperately. The lessons are dedicated to pitches only and then pages dedicated to rhythm that corresponds. There is enough repetition so students become better sight readers. Also sometimes the pitch lessons contain short melodies of familiar tunes, that is always enjoyable to the students. Vol. 2 puts pitch and rhythm together where the student and teacher can play short duets to work on intonation. I realy like these book and use it as sight reading exercises. The organization of the books makes them very easy to use.

Volume II for Violin.
I really loved vol. 1. This vol. 2 is formatted differently. Rhythms and note theory are mixed in each lesson, instead of being separate like in vol. 1. There is one lesson per page. There are 100 lessons. There is a very good reference section at the beginning. The finger placements for each scale is shown in a diagram, which is really helpful. Be careful of the pages. Other reviewers said they are fragile. The paper in the one I bought seems pretty heavy weight so perhaps that has been corrected. Only time will tell.

More varied than Volume 1
Challenging for little kids who need to be challenged. I think vol. 2 gets our 6-yr old to learn more provided that he had a little music reading before. We were not impressed with volume 1 that is too/so repetitive, and we never finished it for that reason. But Volume 2 is worth a try, again if your kid has little note reading.

Great drills book
This is a great book to use with the Suzuki series. You build on repetition, and each page gets more complex as you go.

An excellent idea.
very good addition to the first book Joanne Martin wrote. Work through these and you will really begin to get it (reading music) But as always they are not magic and you need to do ten minutes a day on pitch and ten minutes a day on rhythm. No more but definitely no less. A very good concept and the author deserves a lot of credit for thinking up this simple but very effective idea. You will not be dissapointed. But remember: no quick fixes. Just steady, relentless practice every single day. Excellent book as is the first volume.
