Annoying preparation before using
Cartridges work, but they come with a small clear plastic membrane over the ink hole that is almost impossible to remove. I tried a small razor, a toothpick, tiny needle nose pliers, and even a pin to get the plastic off. I ended up cutting my the plastic and using clear packaging tape to get it off, but it still wasn't easy.
