Life Saver
We had put Bona polish on our wood floors to give them a nice shine. The polish did do give them a great shine but we found out it was a bad move once we got traffic on them. Also when we cleaned them with the Bona cleaner it left streaks, showed paw prints and shoe marks on the floor that would not wipe away. What a mess and over time it just got worse while noting we did helped. We looked on the web about how to strip the floors and tried every thing from a hoover wood and tile floor cleaner machine to mineral spirits with no luck. We became very discouraged and talked about having the floors refinished. However, we continued our research and happen to read about the Bona polish remover which is not mentioned on most sites or at the local hardware stores and decided to try it. Wow what a floor saver. It does take a bit of elbow grease and scrubbing but it did the job like a champ. The floors now look like they did prior to putting the polish on. We are not going to put any more polish on the floors and just keep it clean and natural. We do have a backup bottle of the remover just in case. Great solution for a messy problem.

Get ready to work
First let me say DO NOT put Bona polish on your floors it doesn't come off easily and it wears in high traffic areas. But, since you're reading this you probably already have (and like me wished you hadn't) put it on in the first place. The product works, but not without a lot of hard work, on your hands and knees (buy some knee pads and non scratch scrub pads) and be ready to work and spend the lot of time to do it right. Applying it isn't bad, but rubbing off the polish was work, you scrub and scrub and scrub some more (I found that rubbing across the grain first helped loosen and then I scrubbed with the grain) and then just picking up the polish you scrap off takes time, then you have to clean the floor again. Just to do my dining room took more than 6 hours. Now I have the family room, office, kitchen, foyer and hallways., at this rate it will take 10 days to complete. It's best done in small areas and wait 10 minutes If you have large areas to do (as I do) the transition from room to room will be noticeable and it will take more than a day to complete large areas. I'd also say that the claim the bottle will clean 200 square feet is somewhat generous., I used nearly 3 bottles on the on about 400 sq. feet, and at $20 a bottle I'll have several hundred dollars in just remover plus the time to do everything. The big lesson in this is DON'T use the polish to begin with!

This is the best polish remover, we thought our floors would never look as good as before we polished them. We tried other products but once we tried Bona it worked immediately and our floors looked like new.

Works as described. It dries pretty quickly so you need to keep an eye on it.

This actually !! It does not have a strong smell. I have so many layers of polish and I wanted to remove gradually I diluted slightly and wet a microfiber floor pad. Polish comes off in flakes which can be vacuumed after the floor dried.

It does work but it took 3 applications to remove the Bona polish. It dries quickly do have a spray bottle handy to give it a spritz. I also used Bissel floor scrubber/polisher with the brush attachments. Still took 3 times. And the bottle does not go as far as they say. The picture shows a patch that would not come off and gave it a fourth go around. My floors are not engineered and are natural maple. They were finshed only with Danish oil. NEVER use these polishes on natural wood floors as it leaves water spots and wears off unevenly. Once this wax is removed I will give it several coats of Danish oil and only Danish oil from now on.
