I use a lot of craft sealers but hadn't tried Mod Podge before even though they're the biggest name in the game. I was looking for a pearl/glitter finish and found this. Didn't know it was apparently a viral sensation until after I got it. I really like it, but it has certain applications it would be better suited for. First, the effect is really beautiful and it does seem to seal without feeling too rough. The glitter is very fine, not chunky. Depending on the application, I may be tempted to clear coat it, but I don't know if that would diminish the effect. The biggest challenge with this spray is that the nozzle only allows for a pretty narrow, targeted stream, and it puts a lot of product out at once. You have to take pretty steady strokes to avoid any drip or excessive/uneven glitter, and move quickly. Since it is a narrow spray, it would be a bit challenging to coat a larger item, and you would absolutely need to have a couple cans to cover a wider area. A little does go a long way, but I found two coats gave the best effect. It does dry rather quickly with minimal smell, which is nice. In the items I sprayed, the more porous item (shoe soles) did take better than the glossy glass. I also did some plastic flowers with a very light hand, and I am happy with the effect. Pictures are of shoe soles in direct sun, glasses with and without flash. The iridescent effect is more subtle, so the color shift will vary depending on lighting. Overall, I would recommend it if you are looking for the iridescent 'holo' effect. There really isn't anything comparable on the market as of this review in June of 2025.

Everything modpodge works and this was no different. Gave a shimmer to painted old metal serving dishes. Forgot to take pictures before giving them away. But it did a great job elevated the piece.

This is great varnish. I use it on my winter and galaxy oil paintings. It shows up the best on black canvases. It gives the picture a nice glittery look perfect for the a snow look or twinkling stars. Dries relatively fast as well. Easy to apply.
