what is "passive stretching"?

That is a great question. Passive stretching means that you position the device on the step where you feel a good but comfortable stretch and then let the gentle jaw do the work. You then need to hold the stretch for 30 seconds and relax, and repeat this about every two hours. As your muscles start to loosen up you should be able to increase your ability to open wider and move up a couple of steps on the device.
