Why did you decide on a rocker type instead of one with casters? What do you see as the advantage?

Varier does offer a version of the kneeling chair that is on casters instead of a rocker style. It is named the Multi Balans. We offer different chairs for different needs but the Variable Balans with the look and function of the rockers is by far the most popular. In general the theory is that sitting in a completely sedentary state is inherently bad for our bodies. The rockers lend to movement and keeping the core engaged which in turns improves posture and helps keep blood flowing, calories burning, etc. That is the general theory behind the entire line of the Varier chairs as they are dubbed "movement chairs". Sit down, move on.

This chair is not adjustable, I am 162 centimeters tall. How does this chair accommodate different body types?

I’m also 162 cm tall, and I think the chair ideally fits someone 170 cm tall or taller. What happens is that when I rest my shins on the pads there’s too much weight on them, because since my legs are shorter I have to adjust forward on the seat, and after 15-20 minutes of sitting still, it strains my knees, because obviously more of my weight is in the shin rests than they recommend. I bought it just this week and didn’t return it because I bought it as a meditation chair, and since I’m sitting still, I’m still playing around with trying to add pads to the shin rests to see if that will help.

Is this chair good for tall people (above 6 feet)?

In general there is no height limit for the Variable. But sometimes the Variable feels a bit "small" for very tall people so some choose instead a Thatsit. This is quite individualistic of course. The Thatsit has an adjustable seat and kneepads, so it's easier to fit.

Is this chair good if you suffer from varicose veins?

Just a theory, but it seems to me that if varicose veins are caused by inactivity and standing, then the gentle motion this chair allows might be beneficial. ?
