Best Iron Ever!
This review is for the Panasonic Cordless Iron, Portable 360-Degree Freestyle Dry/Steam Iron with Precision Tips. Lovely turquoise blue.I have over 50 years of sewing experience. I am 70 and I sew nearly everyday. I have owned many, many irons. This particular iron checks quite a few of the boxes that I look for.Cordless is so much nicer than fighting with a cord dragging over fabric, edges of board, under the sole plate of the iron...The cradle fits the iron nicely, is stable, does not move around on the ironing board. Retractable cord in cradle allows you to adjust length. I have a larger size ironing board, but I would not hesitate to use this on a standard size board. The steam system is wonderful. This iron has not spit out any water, has not dripped because it was not hot enough. You can shut the steam off and it goes off right away without any extra steam coming out. Could not believe it worked so well. There are times when you need steam and times when you don't while sewing. No waiting around for the steam to disappear. Flip the button over to no steam and it is gone. The other steam settings work perfectly. The water tank holds more water than many other irons I have had. Being able to remove it to fill is great! The iron gets nice and hot. Does not take too long after auto off. Seams lay flat, bias bindings press right into shape. I fused appliques today and there was not any problem at all. Plenty hot and the weight of the iron was nice. The handle allows you to have a good grip. Fingers wrap around the handle easily and it feels right. The tip of the iron is well shaped for precision work. I was a bit apprehensive about the width of the sole plate in relation to the size of the tip. Tip extends well past the end of the iron on both ends and has a nice taper to it.The stainless sole plate glides so nicely. There is nothing on the bottom to catch on seams or bumps of fabric. Plate is absolutely flat. I have owned irons built so the ends of the plate area catch on things and pull your work into pleats. Not good.I have owned Rowenta's, Oliso, and a host of cheaper varieties. This iron is a keeper. I would buy it again!Don't hesitate to purchase this iron if you are looking for a good sewing iron. And Hey! Panasonic! Don't change this iron, but give us another great iron. Size this exact iron down for really technical sewing. There are so many of us who search for the perfect sewing irons. I would certainly purchase a small size of this iron if you had one. Same style tip of iron, narrower and shorter sole plate. Thanks for this one! Love it!!!

This is an improved version of my Panasonic cordless iron
I have really liked my previous Panasonic cordless iron, which is still working fine after quite a few years of use. I bought this new one because of a new feature: the major improvement in my view of this iron is having a 30 minute shut-off time. Previously I had to very frequently stop what I'm sewing, go to the ironing board, and use the iron for a moment in order to keep it hot. I tried to think of this as "good exercise", but now I can keep sewing much longer without that annoyance. This iron has also double pointy ends, so it must be returned to the heating cradle. That's taken a smidge of getting used to, but the feature is useful. It re-heats quickly so ironing clothing works well with a little patience, as it will re-heat while you re re-positioning a shirt, for instance. I am a quilter and mainly use the iron for ironing pieced fabrics. If I am ironing a lot of yardage of fabric I plug in my corded iron for continuous heat. Another feature I like is that you can refill the water while the iron is heating, as the water well detaches very easily and can be taken to the tap to fill it up. It lasts a long time. Steam is even and nice, and the heat settings seem perfect. I like the way it looks too.I highly recommend this iron if you want to be free of that dangling cord. It's great.

Nice and heavy
The freedom from cords has been really great for my patchwork. I do improv and FPP quilting, so I iron a lot of random seams back to back to back, often with weird angles coming together. Both ends of the iron plate come to really good points, so you can really get it in wherever you need it.It gets good and hot, and it's heavy, so you really don't have to put any strength into your pressing. Just set it there and leave it a few seconds. It's not rechargeable. It's meant to be used with the base. So it still takes up space in the ironing area, but you're not dragging your cord across your work and possibly adding wrinkles if you're not paying attention. This cannot be tilted upright because both ends of the plate are pointed. When you need to set it down, it goes back in the base, which proceeds to make sure it's back up to temperature again.I should have gotten one of these a long time ago.

Sturdy iron, so far I’m enjoying working with it
I do like this iron for doing quilting work. It reheats itself whenever you set it back in the cradle to adjust your material. I do remove the water tank when not using to keep the sole plate clean.

Great piecing iron
Works great for piecing. Very handy next to sewing machine, keeps things moving right along. Not so much for very large pieces.

Disappointing Iron - Would not purchase
I purchased this iron late June and didn't start using until September. Was exited to get this iron as it had very high reviews. However, it has been a big disappointment. The cost of the iron certainly is not justified. The iron does not heat up very well - even at the highest setting. Also, the heat in the iron doesn't last long. I don't think I'd be able to iron a twin size quilt without having to stop in the middle and let the iron heat up. When I put water in the reservoir it has a slight leak, but it doesn't leak once it's back in place. Best think about the iron - no cord to chase.
