It doesn't need to be plugged to and electrical outlet.
I replace my home electric tank water heater for this gas water heater because the electric bill here in Puerto Rico expensive. It was easy to install, although as for any gas connection, you have to make sure they are no gas leaks. Other then that, you have hot water just just opening any hot water faucet at my home. I even use it to do our laundry when hot/warm water is needed. But the best of all, I lowered my electric bill.

Junk components
Had this water heater installed for 3 months and it worked great till about a month after the warranty expired all the little electronic crap inside stopped working. One week the solenoids that control the gas went out so it would spark but no gas would flow so no ignition. Fixed that problem with a manual gas valve and all was well. The week after that the water flow sensor went out so now it won't even spark when it senses water flow. Now I have to light the damn thing with a bbq lighter till I can fix that issue. My advice is spend a little more money and get a better quality water heater.
