Tangled: The Tangled Series, Book 1

Why do others like this?
I'm baffled by the amount of 5 star reviews. Sure, there aren't any apparent mistakes in spelling and grammar. But saying that you like Drew? Or that you think Kate is a strong woman? I mean... how did I hate this book? Let me count the ways:1) Drew is a chauvinistic, entitled, self-centered, sexual harasser. He is not funny. He's a pig. Just because he's winking at you (reader) while he's talking (in an extremely derogatory way) about the women he screws (and dumps), doesn't mean he's cute. It just means he thinks he's a gift to women and that he thinks we should be grateful for him. I would just love it if he got tested for STDs because I'm seriously thinking Kate ends up with something.2) Kate may be hard-working and relentless in her job, but not calling him out on any on the crap he pulls in the middle of the OFFICE trying to WIN HER BACK and completely diminishing her role there? Sure, she doesn't take him back immediately, but at no point does she say "Yo, dude, that thing you did where you embarrassed me in front of all our coworkers? Where you made it clear that the fact that you're the boss's son means that you're allowed to point out that you have feelings for me, ignoring my role in the company and putting me in the awful position of being unable to call you out on that because I might get fired? Not cool, dude, not cool."3) There was no love between the characters. Only physical chemistry (and up to a point). The only hint we have of an appreciation Drew has of Kate has to do with her looks. That's it.4) When they're fighting for the main account at the beginning, even if they're both supposedly successful and great at their jobs, they opt to vandalize computer equipment and ruin each other - sure, that makes me respect them.5) I won't even get into how disgustingly demeaning Drew's friends are towards women, or the fact that he refers to his sister as "That Bitch." She is lovely to her brother, so... she's mean?6) Drew is a 12-year-old in the body of a 28-year-old. Seriously. There's no maturity whatsoever. In conclusion: this novel has the horrible trope of a woman changing a man. Ladies, trust me, that's crap. There are actually nice, kind, responsible, respectable men who do not think of women as objects. Do not romanticize the Drews in real life, because they're not worth your time. But if you do, get checked for STDs. (I don't think I've ever written a review this long, that's how much this book pissed me off.)

Skip it unless you want superficiality.
I don't know how this is classified as "Romance."It's about a man who is a pig in every way. Spoiled, entitled, rich and no depth at all in his character, if he has one. And it's ALL about his second head. Why he's set his sights on "Kate" I could not figure out. I am sure there were other smart attractive women this supposedly very experienced man bumped into. Her only seductive quality to him seemed to be that she wants to beat him at business, and that she is engaged to someone else. Otherwise it was a mystery and the back and forth became boring and tedious. I could not finish it.If you are looking for smut and a guy with nothing above his belly button, this is the book for you. If you like your fictional characters to be interesting, have motivation, character, depth and real feeling, this isn't the book for you.

Don’t waste your time
I read all the reviews before reading this book and i wanted to make a judgement for myself. I can read through just about anything. I could not make it half way through this book. I was annoyed by how it was written. It talks from a mans point of view, fine. But it jumps all over the place and doesn’t describe anything at all during the book. The main character of the book will just say “yeah you see that. That girl over there” “yeah you see how I look sitting here on the couch”. NO! What do you even look like. So frustrated by this book.

Disappointed! W/mild spoilers
Such a great start. I loved how Drew and Kate meet. I love the bickering, the competitiveness, the pranks, and the passion. They were combustible. The author is so talented. The writing flowed and the characters came to life. I wanted to find out how these two reached their HEA so freaking bad. I tried. I really tried but there are things I just can't stomach. I couldn't finish. ***Spoiler Alert*** If you don't want to be spoiled then stop now. I don't think it's a spoiler that is important enough to ruin the book but I have to warn you.Drew starts out being a serious player. Now I could have probably overlooked it if the author didn't make it a point to tell the reader every time Drew screwed a woman who was not Kate. I overlooked the first one because he just barely spoke to Kate and then she was gone. I overlooked the second one because they still didn't really know each other and Kate is engaged. It was very difficult to overlook. By the third time Drew slept with someone else, I'd had enough. By then they were friends of sorts and he was fantasizing about Kate regularly. They were finally in good terms and the attraction was obviously mutual yet it didn't stop him from screwing yet another chick in the back of a cab. My stomach turned one too many times. Kate is still engaged at this point but we don't hear about every time she has sex. Why do we have to hear about Drew? I got the point when he did the coffee shop chick. I didn't need to hear about it ever again. It was obvious then that he was very active. The point was made so move on.This author is awesome so I plan to try a different book by her. Hopefully, I will not have to DNF again.

Hard to decide what to say about this book
I'm giving this 3.5 stars. I had a hard time deciding what to say about this book in light of the #MeToo movement. On the plus side, the voice is terrific, true to the character and perfectly paced to keep the reader turning pages. Drew's so arrogant, he deserves the downfall he brings upon himself. Katherine is strong competition for this bad boy. The supporting cast is stellar. And the book is truly funny. On the negative side, Drew's workplace behavior is awfully close to harassment, if not over the line. I kept thinking his persistence was too close to stalker behavior also. When she says no--repeatedly--she doesn't mean, "keep trying." There's a fine line between persistent and obsessed, and that line is defined also by perspective. I'm seeing it through a lens that wasn't quite so prevalent when this book debuted. It's a product of its time, and I can't hold it against the book; I can simply point that out.

Emma Chase is my new favourite author!!
I love her writing g style and her humour. There are so many laugh out loud moments in this book. I started reading it in the airport departure lounge and almost missed my flight!! The flight from London to Toronto was seven hours and twenty five minutes. For the last three and a half hours I sat in my seat cursing the airline for not having WiFi!!This is a great story with enjoyable characters, especially strong women. Told from a man's point of view is refreshing especially with the humour. I may have been upset at the airline for their lack of WIFI however I soon forgave them and started reading the book again.I'm now at my hotel and have downloaded several other Emma Chase books as I definitely don't want to be caught short again!

Great all male POV story
4.5 stars. 5 for Drew and his witty commentary to, us, the reader. 4 star for the rest of the story. This was fun at times and seeing everything from a male POV was new to me. It was entertaining. So let's start with Drew. He started off as a bit of a d*ck really but seeing him change as his feelings for Kate developed was really nice and by the end of it--after all the swoon-worthy stuff he did--I have to admit that, like Kate, I fell for him too.And then to Kate. From the start she seemed like a perfect match for Drew, both work-wise and relationship-wise, and seeing the sparks flying between them was fun. When they finally hooked up I was grinning like an idiot. And then it was like boarding a roller-coaster with all the ups and downs my feelings and emotions went through as I equally willed them to get together and for Kate to smack Drew or something. I don't think it was an easy ride for any one of us (Drew, Kate or me) for that last 40% or so. I just kept urging Drew to do something!I loved the pictures the author had added to the story. They added a fun angle to what was being described; the drink for example.I certainly think I will be continuing the story at some point :)

LOVED IT...FUNNYAS! SHOULD BE MADE INTO A FILM!
This book should definitely be made into a film. It had me hooked from page 1...hysterically funny and so so true! I had some proper belly laughs and there aren't many books that can do that. There were many many times throughout, but I don't want to actually quote them in full. I'll let you discover them for yourself... one of the funniest for me though was the Disney reference..."I'm going to hell aren't I?"...probables yeah!...the rats and blue buttons scenario is also priceless.I loved the way the narrative is done in such a way that the main character is talking to you, telling you his story from his point of view. It really worked well and is one of this book's many charms for me. It is in my opinion, a brilliant balance between tear inducing humour, sappy romance, (in a good way), and some seriously steamy sex scenes, while managing to have a believable boy meets girl story in there as well.Brilliantly written...I will definitely be looking out for more from this undeniably talented author...keep em coming!Do yourself a favour and read it ;-)

great read but surely men dont really think like this do they? quite amusing from a spoilt brats point of view.
These books are brilliant and and the characters are easy to become entangled with, its basically a story of drew and Kate, Kate is lovely and sweet and drew is a selfish arrogant self absorbed spoiled baby, who like to get his own way in all things, and he has set his sights on Kate but goes about thing all wrong and messes up big style, then your laughing at his stupidity to try to put things right so he can be with Kate well read it yourself it really is worth buying.

funny and original.
I know I'm reading this late, but it was worth the wait, what a clever, funny, original book, I really wanted to hate Drew, he was frustrating, arrogant and I didn't really warm to him but i loved the first person narrative, his inner thoughts and the reasonings he had for doing things, they were incredibly funny and very honest which is what I liked. Kate, sweet Kate, to have that power force of Drew after you, wow, she took a chance and well, the second half of the book was brilliant, I found it really sweet and sincere even with Drew and his cheeky one-liners, a man in love for the first time was a thing to behold, pretty damn special, this author has made something unique and memorable, glad I finally got to be part of something wondrous.
