If You're Looking for a Pod Style Machine, Look No Further!
After much research into buying my first "pod" style coffee maker, I chose the Dolce Gusto Genio 2, and I am more than thrilled with my choice! I chose Nescafe over the other well-known brand, because I have read of far too many reviews on all the models of that brand that state that they are being more cheaply made than they used to be, and thus prone to breaking down shortly after purchase. I decided to completely boycott the brand, coffee pods and all, to help encourage them to return to making a high quality product. And, luckily, that is how I stumbled onto this Nescafe machine! I'm so glad that I did! I'll get right down to the few cons that this machine has, for those debating whether it's for them, but otherwise, just buy it!CONS: Makes a small cup of coffee. The highest water setting still makes a vastly smaller cup of coffee than I'm used to with drip machines. Of course, with drip machines, I'm used to filling up and re-filling as high as I want from the carafe. You can always make a second pod, but at $.50 - $1.00 per pod, it isn't as economical. You'd be looking at a $2.00 cup of daily coffee. I have half a mind to measure, and see if it produces the same amount at the same setting every time. HOWEVER, I tried the variety pack of coffees and espresso pods, and they are FAR SUPERIOR to the best pod coffee I've had from the well-known brand/coffee maker. It has been so nice to instead have coffee house style drinks, with bold complex flavours and hearty foam every morning, instead of plain old coffee. This is a European brand machine and coffee, so maybe the best thing to do, is to just do as the Europeans do, and enjoy a smaller cuppa that packs a big and delicious punch.Secondly, the machine is loud, compared to a drip machine. At a professional 15 bars of pressure to make it's delicious espresso, and under $100 for the machine, this is to be expected, and not a con that I think Nescafe actually needs to address. It's more of an FYI, if you have babies or husband's in the home that you don't want to wake in the morning.Third, and this is just another FYI, not a problem, the machine looks nice and modern (and looks more expensive than the other brand), but the shape of the water reservoir makes it stick out funny from my kitchen counter wall. I like things to sit flush. Not a deal breaker, obviously, I'll adapt.PROS: It should be mentioned that Nescafe Dolce Gusto's customer service is outstanding! They were very quick to get back to me in the same day over email, and went above and beyond over a small issue.If you're looking for the convenience of a pod machine, look no further. The price, quality, and delicious coffee make this one the superior choice!

I never imagined I would love a pod coffeemaker
These days, I was trying to cut back on coffee. I have a beautiful French press I got here, but it takes a while to grind the coffee and heat the water and blah blah blah. So although it may great coffee, I found myself not having coffee when I wanted it. So I got this one after looking around probably because Amazon had a coupon that made it cheaper.And I was really impressed with all the European coffees - the espresso, all kinds of espresso, and different kinds of what appeared to be good strong coffee. So I ordered a bunch of coffee too. Most of it was coming from England and I was shocked when I realized that the coffee was getting here and Amazon had not even started to ship the coffee maker two weeks later. Living in Alaska I don't expect to get prime service but I kinda hope to get it before Christmas when I ordered it in September.So I sent an email and a nice Amazon customer service person make sure that it got in the mail immediately and actually I got today shipping which I normally don't get even though I'm a prime member.I am thrilled with this coffee. Well it is not as good as perfectly grounded French press coffee, it is darn close. I have friends I see a lot more of because they want to come over in the morning and have a cup of coffee. This kind of coffee, from this dolce gusto coffeemaker.I did have a problem originally. I turned it on to run hot water through it as the directions said and nothing happened. I had a flashing red light, no water came through and I was very very unhappy . The instruction book that came with my coffee maker said nothing about priming, which is something that apparently you have to do the first time. I just turned it off that night and the next morning I turned it on again and it had primed itself by sitting there and it worked perfectly to clean the coffee maker and then to make the coffee. And the coffee was fabulous and has been every time I have made it no matter which kind it is.The only real con that I have is that it vibrates very strongly and I have to stand there to make sure that it doesn't vibrate my coffee cup right off the machine. But since it makes the coffee in less than a minute it's not exactly a hardship.

At first it didn't work and then it worked...
I purchased this coffee maker after seeing it at my friend's. It does make great coffee. I had to ask for a replacement unit bc mine had the same problem as most of the people that gave a 1 star review had...the water wouldn't flow through the unit. When I got the replacement, the same thing happened. I was so frustrated that I decided to read some more reviews. One person mention that he tried to make a coffee a couple times and after let the unit rest overnight and it worked on the next day. Guess what? I tried the same thing bc I couldn't believe I had to ask for another replacement. The unit worked! I called Nescafe customer service to make sure it was normal and they said it is. If you buy this coffee maker, don't return it before you called them. What happens is that if the unit is pressurized inside, the water won't flow. Just called them and they can guide you on how to flush the air out and make the machine work. You can also try what I did bc I got this hint from someone else and it did work for me. The reason I really wanted to buy a Dolce Gusto is bc it makes hot and cold beverages. I love the hot chocolate and the cold ice tea, My husband is a coffee person and loves all their coffee blends. The reason I'm giving it a 3 stars is bc there is no information about this on their troubleshooting guide and it could have taken me much less time and frustration to make this machine work.
