Looks great when done. My head cement softens the material and can melt in the tied down areas and it breaks off. I haven't tried a different glue Yet. Tying material with thicker string helps." by GJinNY - "works as well or better than Squirmy Wormy. More durable in the stream than Squirmy Wormy and equally effective. Deadly san juan material on stockers." by Fly fisher - "Really good choice for making a hook look like a worm." by William Wolff - "Squirmy worm fly tying material. Put down a base layer of chenille and you won't need to worry about the body spinning on the hook. The original pattern calls for a bead, but I don't use one." by Puck - "Pretty good. Material is "wavy" and not straight. Sometimes makes it lay funny when tied in, but I don't think the fish mind. Good deal. You get quite a lot for the money. Would buy again. Colors are true to pics." by owlRnothing

A lighter wrap is necessary, but it looks like great material.
This is the first time using this soft, bouncy, flexible material for tying worms. Initially I wrapped my thread too tightly around the material, and it sliced right through it. Duh... A lighter wrap is necessary. I suspect that this material won't hold up to too many bites, but hey, if I'm not bringing in the trout when they bite, who's fault is that, right?!The tan color looks more natural to my human eyes, but the hot pink came highly recommended from a family member who ties and fly fishes a LOT, and spent a few summers as an Alaskan guide. He knows more than I do about this stuff, so my fly box will have hot pink (and natural). My tie on this -- #12 or #14 hook, lead thread wrapped first, then follow with matching color thread to secure the lead. Two light wraps around the worm material near the bend in the hook, then follow up the hook with thread until near the eye. Put a BEND in the worm material first (like a "U-Shape") and then two wraps around the material again to secure it down, several more wraps around the hook, and tie. When your'e done, you'll have a worm that's in the shape of a U (not just straight).

Make sure to fish these next to a purist!
Along with mop flies, the squrimy wormy is the bane of the fly fishing purist who thinks any "fly" not made from imported silk and hand raised birds, bunnies and other woodland creatures is sacrilege. Fact is, squirmy wormys work and are easy to tie.Not much to say about these, they do what you want them to do. You will get many years of worms from this pack at a good deal. Get some and tick off a purist today!!

The rubber is not very durable
I bought these alongside some store bought worms of a different color to make some flys. The local storebought worms had no issue being pulled through a bead. These on the other hand come apart right away. They will still have uses but as I like to have beads on my San Juan’s I cannot use them for that.

SAMSFX Squirmy Wormy Fly Tying Materials for San Juan Flies Fishing Worm Body Trouts Floating in Red
SAMSFX Squirmy Wormy Fly Tying Materials for San Juan Flies Fishing Worm Body Trouts Floating Red ColorI wanted to try my luck off the coast with a small fly and catch smaller bait fish and what may be in wade distance from the sand. I have used san juan worms most places I have fly fished and this was my intent buying these. I have used red chenille or yarn with a small gold bead and thought it may work near shore, in different combinations. This is a squishy material, soft and flexible and it can be pierced or tied on several ways. With a small 14 size short shank hook, this would present a worm like creature for whatever may be present out there. I don't really care if the fish aren't larger or apleanty, just to see if they can be caught for bait. I like this material.

Enough to last a lifetime if supplying only yourself; Works great
Used this material in a few different techniques for attaching to a hook. Never had the material tear or break. First time fishing with one of those I sight fished a brown trout who did not hesitate to move in and gobble it. It's a good size/diameter for smaller hooks, if that's what you're looking for.

Effective
I kind of like this stuff. The Squirmy Wormy is a pattern that might make some fly tying traditionalists "squirm" a bit, but there is no denying its effectiveness. It takes a little patience to become comfortable with this product, as it tends to rotate easily on the hook while tying. If using it with a bead, I find it more convenient to thread the material through the bead with a bodkin before mounting the bead on the hook, as it more often than not breaks off when trying to drag it through the opening in the bead once the latter is on the hook shank. It's also a good idea to avoid anything but water-based cements when finishing the fly, as organic solvents will weaken the material.

A lifetime supply of squirmy wormy's
Not sure I'll live long enough to use all these up, luckily I have a dozen guys in my Project Healing Waters group that I can share them with. A whole new learning experience in fly tying as normal tying techniques can't be used as the thread will cut right thru the worms. dubbing up heavier thread with a like color helps a great deal. I'm going to experiment with putting a UV cure section in the middle to help keep the thread from cutting the worms.

Not a bad product but color is off, darker and more magenta
It's good for fly tying BUT the color is off, not like on the picture. Not even close. It's much darker and more magenta than pink. Color wise did not work for me and do not recommend if you are looking for exact color match. However if color is OK then it's us not bad

Different quality
Bought a pack to see if quality was good which it was, ordered 4 more packs in different colours and these were a different brand, diameter was smaller and material weaker, wouldn't of bought the other 4 had I known the quality wouldn't match the original order
