I'm new to sprouting. I bought these lids and a sample seeding package. The lids are very easy to use. They fit Kerr quart jars I bought a long time ago, ball pint/quart jars I bought within the last 5 years, and ball half gallon jars I bought last week. I had most of the seeds successfully sprouted. For the ones I failed, I think it's the problem with the seeds, and not the device. It's very important to drain as much water as possible. I sometimes shake the jars, put the jars in the upright position and then upside down and repeat a few times, to get water out.The lids are very strong and sturdy. Based on engineering, material that are twice as thick will provide four times strength (2^2) and eight times stiffness (2^3). So it's not linear. The concave design is a plus. Not only it adds out-of-plane stiffness for the structure, it also adds slightly more area for air circulation. It makes draining easier too. I just wish both pieces were made of 316 stainless steel. I hope the seller can give us "old" customers a discount and can sell the new 316 stainless steel mesh separately when it is available.Also, please do not equate "Made in China" to inferior quality. Price probably has more correlation than country of origin for things that are not extremely high tech. After all, the tolerance of one of the rails built by Chinese was so amazing that an American presenter at a conference stressed that again and again. He said before he actually saw it, he didn't know it was possible. Anyway, I'm willing to pay more for a product that can last longer and produce better results.

I absolutely love these delightful little lids! They are just beautiful! I will definitely keep them in mind as gifts, the quality is superb.The best part has been not needing to prop up the jar off the counter due to the concave curve in the mesh. I used to have problems with molding or weird smells using other flat sprouting lids but so far this has been working really well to keep the sprouts well-aerated and always edible. I like that I can boil them if I run into any weird problems.The mesh is very fine and works even for alfalfa seeds. It's so fine that I've flipped the lid over (so it sticks out instead of in) and used it for a mason jar flour sifter and even a giant cinnamon/sugar shaker at a family gathering. The stamped rings make it super easy to keep these special stainless rings separate from my normal mason jar rings!I highly recommend this set as the highest quality but also the most versatile for other uses!

I've been using these lids constantly for over a month and I haven't seen a bit of rust or even a discoloration on either of them. I've even been putting them on the jars with the mesh curving outward (convex) instead of concave as the instructions say, leaning them on the mesh, and neither lid has dented in any way. If you are looking for something durable, choose these! Also, they allow good air circulation in and out of the jar. My sprout have always grown large and healthy. So if you plan to do lots of sprouting, these are the lids that you will be able to use for a very long time! Yep, they are worth the extra expense! And, no, I wasn't paid to write this review!

I’ve used these for four years to sprout broccoli sprouts and mung bean sprouts. They been perfect, no rust, good screen size for rinsing and minimal root entrapment. Highly recommended.

This sprouting kit includes 2x convex stainless steel screens, 2x stainless steel canning jar rings and 2x pieces of stainless steel wire shaped to make drain stands. The kit should last a lifetime given proper care. You'll pass it down to your kids. However, it is pretty pricey. I chose to buy it because I had a good discount code, which brought the price down to a reasonable level. I am pleased with this purchase.

I've been sprouting for a few years and have used several sprouting lids. I've had plastic that did not drain well, metallic ones that have rusted, and screens that have gotten bent out of shape. I love these lids because they're stainless steel and do not rust. The screens also are indented to provide better aeration. There is also an outer rim on the screens making them more durable than screens I've used in the past. I also like that the band you screw on to the jar is branded. This prevents confusing it with the traditional mason bands (that do rust). Rinsing my sprouts takes only a second because these screens let the jar fill and drain quickly. I've used these screens for broccoli and alfalfa seeds. I would recommend this product for anyone using wide mouth (Ball) mason jars to sprout seeds.

Have used these sprouting lids for a couple of months, and unlike others (including some in very similar looking boxes), these have not rusted. Would not purchase any other brand!
