Allen Company Big Buck Trophy Mount Kit with Skull Cover and Engravable Plate

I gave this to my brother as a Christmas gift and he's very pleased with it. He did say he had to do a lot of rigging and adjusting to get the rack to fit but I don't really think that was a criticism of the product. It looks very nice and he said he'd like to have another one like it. I got the camo finish.

I've used many of these types of antler mounts. To me everyone I've tried has their challenges in mounting. Mostly what I like about this one is the camo pattern which is different then the others I've used. The screws sent with this kit for mounting the skull cap are way too long and go through the backing about an inch. I ended up hack sawing the screws so it will fit to the wall as intended.

My husband had many sets of antlers that had been collecting dust for 20 years, so I decided to play taxidermist! I ordered a bunch of different mounting sets and this is very good looking! I had so much fun doing it! And the whole time thinking how great it was that I was saving so much money! For any of the sets I found as long as you have scissors, double-sided gorilla tape and a drill (I also used a nail gun)— even a first timer can make them look professional!

Kit arrived on time and undamaged. First I noticed that the holes did not align with plaque, that is a line projected through the middle of the top and bottom holes does not intersect the point in the middle of the plaque bottom. I accept this quality control problem because the alignment error was small and thus the mount would look ok if the middle of antlers was centered on the point. Next I looked at the two small nails for securing the wall mount bracket and deem them too small to hold once the large set of whitetail antlers was mounted so I drilled out the wall bracket and used screws. As others have accurate described, I found the black skull cap hard to cut accurately and once in place, there were a couple of small dimples in the skull caps which were not noticeable when the plaque and antlers are placed on a wall. Ok kit but a more flexible skill cap with a series of increasing size interior markings so that once the diameter of the antler base is measured, the matching mark on the cap can be cut. Got another set to mount and I will look carefully at other kits before purchasing.

This mount is alot better than I expected!! There heavy and I can't wait to get my antlers back to mount them... I'll update the pic after I mount them... great buy!!!

Love the look and materials used on this mount. It's one of the easier mounts I've put together and it looks great.
