Going out on a stream of glory
The box cover image tells you most of what you need to know about the music inside. It's atmospheric, meditative, occasionally stormy, consistently lyrical and even quietly majestic, which is an achievement in its own right considering the album's origin in outtakes and stray recordings, moving gently but firmly to its finale---and, by implication, to the aforesaid coda to Pink Floyd's career, shepherded with great skill and feeling by David Gilmour and Nick Mason. As a tribute to the band's co-founding keyboardsman Rick Wright---whom they secure as a member all over again by mulcting some of his more embracing late work formerly untouched---it's an elegy striking for its sense of appreciation more than sorrow, evoking dreams rather than settling scores (though surely the temptation was there). Some of the music references much of Pink Floyd's past (especially its pre-"Dark Side of the Moon" past), but those references suggest a kind of hard-won peace rather than an urge to rewrite. As a final statement from a band who was light years ahead of its time when they first emerged and for several years to come, "The Endless River" didn't have to be a groundbreaker, it only had to be compelling. And it is. Some bands go out in a blaze of glory; Pink Floyd, however inadvertently, go out on a stream of it. There's something quietly agreeable about that.

waters end
The endless river proves once again, that Floyd is Dave Nick and Rick, absolutely no need for waters once again.waters has always been way too full of himself to be tolerated for a band that just makes amazing music, imagine what the wall would have been without all the gloomy waters lyrics, the endless rivers is a fresh exciting performance , half of it you could add to crazy diamond its that good, very pleased how good it is , Nick and Dave flip out on their instruments , and the beautiful melody wind of Rick Wright keeps them aloft ,so glad they released the endless river.
