Toynami Voltron Ultimate Edition 18 Inch Action Figure

A modern update to the classic voltron its you really have to see in person to really appreciate how much detail they put into this model it looks great and its a good size at 18 inches. this version is all plastic but seems to be for the most part well built and has some weight to it each lion looks streamlined with a good amount of articulation . I dont think its fair to compare it to the bandai chogokin version when these are two very different models and two very different versions of voltron . If your looking for a modern updated and a towering bot that will get noticed then this ones for you if your looking for a more old school style action figure size diecast collectible thats also great then you can't go wrong with the bandai chogokin version either way both are great collectibles

It would be 5 star if the maker decides to add some weapons for each lion. Metallic paint makes up for a die cast appearance. Heavy set. A little bit pricy but a great piece for toy collectors or a voltron fanatics.

While the style, size and design of this figure are all excellent, the quality is startlingly poor. My figure arrived with its head snapped off, chipped plastic on all five of the lions, and many sloppy paint applications. The plastic itself also feels very cheap and flimsy, and all the joints were either far too tight or worryingly loose. If you want a big Voltron in your life, buy the Legendary Defender lions. If you're a purist looking for a top-shelf collectible, buy the Chogokin. Toynami's version simply isn't worth the money.

I picked up the SDCC/NYCC exclusive Stealth version of this piece, which uses the same lions but with a different paint job; thus, my review is based on the overall build, and not the coloration.First off, this thing is HUGE. In my attached pictures, I put this thing next to Toynami's 30th Anniversary Voltron, standing at 12" (and that thing's no slouch). Once combined, this Voltron feels pretty substantial in-hand, and the broad build of each lion gives the combined robot a fantastic presence. While slightly bummed they didn't incorporate any die-cast into this figure, it probably would have added a LOT of heft to the combined Voltron... and increased the already substantial cost.The detail in design and construction is fantastic, and articulation is really great, especially in the individual lions- this makes for some great poses, (in particular, allowing them to sit). When combined, Voltron can strike a wide range of poses, and the inclusion of ball joints at various joints (head, hips, etc.) allow for even more articulation and poses, such has making it kneel, etc.The only accessories that come with it are the sword and shield; the insert is a booklet that shows you the transformation sequences, along with a write up from the Toynami CEO on his design process for this figure.Is it worth a few hundred bucks? Value is relative to each individual, but I'll say this- as a Voltron and Combiner collector, I was on the fence, but decided to drop the dough and pick it up... and I haven't once regretted it.

I gave this to my husband for Christmas. He LOVED it!
