So far so good-lights work again w/1 modification-can't find a way to buy the clip
My original panel died after a few years of use, either due to the rechargeable battery going bad or the solar panel getting too sun baked and opaque, preventing enough light from getting to the charging panel. The original strand is a multi-color light strand. I got this simple replacement solar panel to see if I could keep the strand working. Great news, it worked. I had to switch the wire polarity (pos-neg) between the strand and new panel because the ad said ONLY compatible with their lights, and they are right...the panel does not directly work with my old strand, but power is power (as long as the specs match) and this strand supplied the same power/specs as my original panel. So I triple checked that the power specs matched my original panel and gave it a try Here are the pros/cons:PROs:- it works, but it is only lights the white lights (which is what I used the most, so that is fine. Thank heavens it wasn't stuck on a single color)- the lights lasted all night, once it was fully charged- it comes with a stake to mount it in the yard- swapping it out is easy, just cut the wires on the strand and either splice in a new connector, or direct splice the wires on the strand to the wires on the panel (note - I had to reverse the polarity when connecting the wires (swap the positive/negative wires...which I tested first in the existing connector (before I cut any wires) to make sure it worked).- bottom line: my white lights work again without having to buy a whole strand and/or remount a new strand of lightsCONS (don't let the number of cons deter you, remember I bought an aftermarket panel, so there will be more adjustments required):- it is slightly dimmer that the original strand (maybe a dimmer option on a new remote can fix this). I also lost my multi-color options...as expected- it worked right away, the first night, so it came charged to some extent, but the strand quit working after an hour, so I had to turn the panel off (there is an on/off switch on the back of the panel) and charge it for a few days in full sun before trying it again. Now, it works all night after a sunny day.- it doesn't come with a remote, so I have to order one separately, although there might be options to buy them together now. I never expected my original remote to work, and it doesn't. Once I get a compatible remote, I will try to update the post if it has multi-color and/or dimming options.- the connector on the new panel is not compatible with my existing strand, so I had to cut it off and direct splice the light strand to the new panel wires using a shrink connector and tape (again, swapping the positive/negative wire connections). It might have been possible to connect the strand wires directly inside the new solar panel, but I haven't taken it apart to check. I might do that if my splice has problems later.- the panel only comes with a stake mount (for the ground). I need the clip shown in the picture, and so far, I can't find a way to buy it, so I have to rig something else up to roof mount the panel. This is probably the most frustrating option because the clips exist and are shown in the pictures...with no way to purchase. So far, I am happy with the purchase!

Perfect replacement!
I've had a set of lights that still work well, with the exception the original solar panel didn't seem to be working and lighting the lights right anymore. I found this one that had the same voltage and connection, so I decided to give it a try. Worked perfect and I didn't have to replace the lights too and didn't have to restring everything.

When Is 2mm the wrong size
This is a replacement solar panel, advertised at 2mm on the female side. I bought it because my string lights are also 2mm on the male side. Perfect match right? The male side is supposed to screw over the female side making a waterproof connection. They are both exactly the same size and only butt up to each other. I have to send this back. I went back to the ad it does say this is only for the same brand name, and of course, my string lights are a different brand. It always helps to read the directions (and understand them!)

Thought this would be a great replacement for a worn out solar panel..
But this didn't even have a USB port to charge up quickly! So I placed in the sun for the whole day. Well it didn't work at all. Plugged in fine to solar light strand, but absolutely non functional. Disappointed!
