Help Defeat Bullying/Cyberbullying
"Bullying Today: Bullet Points and Best Practices" by Dr. Patchin and Dr. Hinduja was a great source when referring to the troubles that bullying portrays to the world today. This book focused on the many problems that are associated with bullying and cyberbullying dilemmas, and laid out a framework as to how individuals can deal with each of these problems. Not only can this book help students through bullying situations, but parents of bullies/victims of bullying, and teachers as well."Bullying Today" not only has ample definitions for terms that may seem difficult to understand at first, but multiple examples and real-life scenarios that have taken place. Patchin and Hinduja and their research is a great start to dealing with the bullying and cyberbullying dilemma. Each chapter focuses on different issues of bullying and the two authors work together to lay down the facts of bullying/cyberbullying. As technology and the Internet continue to grow, I feel that Patchin and Hinduja will continue their research to help deal with this epidemic. So whether you are another student, a concerned parent, or a teacher looking to make a difference, "Bullying Today" is a great purchase that will lead you down the path to help stop bullying/cyberbullying!

Clear, Concise, and Extremely Informative
The book, Bullying Today: Bullet Points and Best Practice, by authors Justin Patchin and Sameer Hinduja is advertised as an easy to use guide for school administrators who hope to “make meaningful changes in the way you prevent and respond to bullying”. I think they’ve done just that. The concise chapters will take the reader from understanding the definition of cyberbullying, through the most current research available, to what the law says on the topic, and finally to prevention strategies that are practical and easy to apply. Their approach appears to be honest and unbiased. It’s often difficult to find a text that is based on research but still easy to read. Patchin and Hinduja provide factual information in a format that keeps things simple. They follow each chapter with references and other resources in addition to a “Questions for Reflection” section to personalize each topic to you. While geared toward school administrators, there is value for parents looking for help in understanding cyberbullying and their options for response and prevention.

This book will put your mind at ease. The most concise, up-to-date information on bullying. Good for parents, teachers & administrators. When your child is bullied, this is the info you need. It covers everything in a kind, yet professional way. Easy to read, covers dealing with the school. Defines things you are not sure about--is this bullying? What can I do? What are the laws? By far, this book gives you useful information to deal with the situation and help your child. It has research information on bullying, also. It discusses the 'unknowns' that you can't find anywhere else. What should I do? How will this affect my child? Do other kids get bullied, or just my kid? I searched tons of websites looking for this information & it's all right here. Many sites/books/'experts' are bs, no bs here. It deals with the facts, and the knowledge will stop your mind from racing & help you deal with the situation. Stop looking & get this book. I looked everywhere for this information. The authors have a couple other books I plan on reading, also. Oh, and they don't try to sell you anything.

A MUST READ BOOK FOR PARENTS, CHILDREN, AND EDUCATORS!
I loved reading this book. First, it is a very easy read for an adult, teen, or a child. The book provides an excellent real-world explanation of the evolution and escalation of bullying and what our children are facing today now that cell phones and the Internet have become integrated into everyone's lives. This book should be mandatory reading for all students as well as educators. I buy so much from Amazon as you can see from my many reviews. I don't review just anything, only products that either deserves accolades or to warn people about a purchase I made that was not what I expected. After reading Bullying Today, I thought it was time for me to give credit to these inciteful authors. My son recommended that I read this book since I was bullied as a high school student. One of his professors used the book in his college class about today's bullying and how the new technology available has brought this problem to a new level. My son was bullied as a boy in elementary school by one rotten no good kid so much so that I had to go to school every day for two years and have lunch with my son, so he didn't have to suffer at the hands of this young terrorist. Our lunch time together was an enjoyable experience for my son and me. We read classic novels and ate great food. I certainly don't regret our time together, but the bullying hurt us both.I felt helpless trying to fight for him. It did not matter how many times I complained to the school. The story was that this boy was a habitual bully and was the principal's best friend's kid, and she allowed him to run wild. It wasn't just my son it was everyone's child. The assistant principal said his hands were tied. When this mean kid was no longer under the protection of his mother's friend, his future authoritarians were far less tolerant. He got expelled from several different schools. That principal should have gotten him some help.I had told my son the story of how when I was in high school my best friend and I were bullied by two girls that we didn't personally know other than passing them in the hallways. It was a mystery to me why they harassed us. (Ok, maybe because not only were we gorgeous, but wicked smart and at the top of our class.) As a result, I did not attend my 25th class reunion for fear of seeing these girls. How ridiculous is that? Ten years later, I decided to try the 35th year party. My best friend and I attended with our wonderful husbands of over 25 years. Both of these girls were there alone and were unrecognizable. The ugliness that was in the hearts of these once girls, now women, surfaced in their faces and bodies. By reading this book, it helped me to understand that it wasn't about my friend or me. I now know it was their problem with themselves. They would have done anything they could to ruin our high school experience. It somehow made them feel better about themselves. After reading this up-to-date book Bullying Today, I now know we were probably not the only ones they harassed. I would highly recommend that any parent or school official read the book, and it should be mandatory reading for our elementary and older teenagers. You shouldn't have to wait 35 years to get over the hurt that a bully caused you or your child. My thanks to Drs. Hinduja and Patchin for a job well done. I will put your other books on my reading list.

Thorough, Balanced, and Nuanced
The authors are not only passionate about cyberbullying, they are remarkably well informed. They show how misguided many interest groups are in addressing this wide spread problem, for example, they reject zero tolerance policies. Some of the authors positions are left of center and some are right of center, but their positions are always based on thorough, thoughtful research that either they or others have conducted. There is no hyperbole or hysteria here. This can be seen as the definitive reference on cyberbullying couched in language thar everyone can relate to.
