Yes. (Not glass, more like a plexi coating) It's the perfect coaster! Large cups and glasses fit on top just fine.

Q: what is the top part of the coaster made of? Will it break when dropped?

it is made of very hard plastic and I dropped them, dropped heavy cups on them and nothing has cracked or shattered! So you should be fine!

Q: How many coasters do you get when you purchase them? It looks as if you only get 2 which is my only problem with this product.

It comes with 2. I felt the same way but when I gave them to my husband he loved them! Totally worth it!
