Why wait? Pull the plug on cable and enjoy TV for free with this simple yet effective antenna.
My last experience with an antenna was a big, clunky thing you had to climb up on the roof to attach! However, after paying more and more for cable and getting less and less, I finally decided to pull the plug. When this thin, flexible thing showed up in my mailbox, I was skeptical. A few pieces of double-stick tape attached it to a window (no climbing ladders for this 75-year-old), and I just plugged it into the TV. I needed a little help from a friend to figure out how to download the channels, then I was all set! Plenty of channels right off the airwaves, and I'm saving $100 a month! I can get local news, and there are plenty of channels to choose from--even more than I had with cable! Try it! I'm sorry I waited so long

Outstanding
After reading the reviews, I chose RG because they were predominantly good reviews. I'm here to tell you that I'm another satisfied customer. The antenna is well constructed, and the push-on type F-connectors (as opposed to the traditional screw-on type) are solid and fit snugly, and are much easier to connect and disconnect. The antenna itself has a nice appearance and isn't too "ugly" or out of place for my tastes. The stand for the antenna is solid, and makes the antenna easy to place on a shelf.Initially, I admit that I wasn't impressed because the performance was no better than a similar, much cheaper antenna that I had bought previously. Channels still came in weak and broken, despite being less than twenty air miles from the majority of the TV transmitters for our area. I communicated this to RG's technical support staff. They were very prompt and responsive, and suggested that I try different configurations. When those didn't work any better, RG offered to send me a signal amplifier, free of charge. When it arrived, there was a profound difference. Every channel showed 4-5 on the TV's signal strength meter. Based on some uneven terrain between the broadcast sites and my house, the antenna just needed a boost from the amplifier. And this amplifier actually works, unlike the one that came with my cheaper antenna.Overall, RG makes a very good product, and their technical support was fantastic. They really did a stand-up job and I thank them for saving me the time and expense of having to install an outside antenna.THANK YOU!

Not recommended!
I normally avoid leaving negative reviews but was compelled to do so this time, as I was anticipating much better results from these antennas (based upon numerous positive reviews)! I tested both the Monarch 40 and 50. I'm located only 9 miles from the transmitters (and antennas were positioned facing them). Very poor results overall! Weaker than average signal (especially with the 50, which was surprising)! Regardless of where I positioned them. With or without amplification. Confirmed with both signal strength and quality indicators on TV (and visual confirmation). I'm not a novice. Have tested numerous antennas in my environment (which isn't that challenging a location). 2-3 channels originate from 20-30 miles away and/or produce weaker signals. Wanted to see if these antennas would do a better job with these channels but, in reality, they did a worse than average job, even with the local channels! Also, based upon the (unclear) product description, I was left with impression that you could attach your own coax cable to these antennas. Not the case. You must rely upon the thin, poor quality cable that's permanently attached to them. Much prefer the Mohu antennas (which provide a coax connector). This allows you to use better quality cable (i.e. RG-6, quad shield) that's not as vulnerable to interference issues. In addition, it's possible that the built in LTE filter is actually reducing the signal on these antennas. Filters generally do this. This type of filter isn't generally required and may actually be detrimental. These filters can be purchased separately. If it's not needed and is (potentially) reducing the signal, why have it built in to the antenna?Confused as to how such good results were (supposedly) achieved by others. Currently using a ($14.99 on Amazon.com) Mohu Metro. Very highly recommended if you're within a close range of the transmitters (totally unbiased opinion). Sorry to say that I cannot recommend these antennas. Very disappointed!

Pleased Monarch 50 user in STL.
This is replacing an older TERK-TV Amplified antenna that no matter where I placed it, or adjusted the amplifier, some channels would become very pixelated at the slightest breeze. The new Monarch 50, once I found the "sweet-spot" on top of our entertainment center, has been great pulling in all of the channels I received with the TERK without all of the pixelation. It has made watching the free over-the-air channels a lot better. We no longer have to jump up and adjust the antenna to get different channels. Really like that it came with a stand as I had to locate the antenna at an angle to the walls. If I had just mounted it directly to the wall, it would not have performed as well. Mounting it to a window as most antennae makers recommend was not an option in my house but it still performs great.

Expected better
I previously purchased chased the 60 edition which is an FM antenna I use for one of my stereo receivers and was pleased with the results. I thought this might work with a TV I had in another room. It was moderately successful in picking up some channels on one TV but none on another I really wanted to use it on. It could be my reception in that room but it did not serve the expected purpose and was returned.
