Got this today and was eager to try out. It works. If I bring it near my phone, the little bit of RF sets the unit off (good.) I’ll do some more testing with it prior to taking it to AirBNBs this summer when I expect to actually use it. I chose this detector against others because I felt that the larger wand size may cover more airspace. I’m not sure if that’s true or not but it does cover a larger gamut of devices covering Infrared, Magnetic, RF and optical spy devices. Unit was packed very well and delivered in like a day. For right now, I’ll have to give this device a rating of 4 until I’m convinced that I’m using it correctly (and I did go through the instruction manual from page to page.). Recommended.

I tried it on my van, and it beep at multiple places, and I check those spots and nothing is there. It's too pricey for what you get. I ended up returning it.

This seems to be a fairly all around product for checking your household and vehicle security. The only difficulty I had personally was learning the alerts where it was a legitimate alert or interference.

I got two devices - the bug detector and a small hidden camera finder. The bug detector is almost 15 inches long, but it’s lightweight. I can detect RF signals with it to find working wireless cameras. For cameras that are turned off, I use the camera finder. First, I use the bug detector to scan for hidden cameras. I turn the sensitivity switch clockwise to power it on and set the dial in the middle, in the yellow zone, just as I read in the instructions. Below the sensitivity switch, there’s another switch where I can choose between audible (II) or silent (0) RF detection and magnetic field detection (I). Since I’m looking for cameras, I choose mode (II) so I can both hear and see the signal strength.I tested it in my house. As I moved it around, it first detected my Wi-Fi router, and then it beeped a lot near my indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi cameras. Finding offline or unpowered cameras is trickier, though. The camera finder is much smaller than the bug detector - about 3.5 inches long and 1 inch wide. I need to turn off the lights or darken the room to use it. By holding down the power button, it emits a red light, and I look through the optical filter. This part is tricky because I have to look directly into the camera lens, but when I do, I see a shiny light spot. I confirmed this by testing it on two cameras that were off, in a dark room. In real-life situations, though, I have to be patient and move slowly so I don’t miss any hidden cameras.To rule out false positives, I put my mobile devices on airplane mode and turn off devices that emit any kind of signal like a wireless printer, router, IoT devices, consoles etc.I find the bug detector easier to handle. I’ve learned that I have to move it slowly so I don’t miss faint signals, especially from GPS devices. I also go over the same spot twice with different sensitivity levels. Many GPS devices automatically shut off when a car is parked, but I can still detect them by setting the switch to magnetic mode. Again, I have to move slowly because some magnets are weak, and the bug detector will only pick them up when I hover closely above them. But when a GPS is on, it’s much easier to detect through its cell phone signal. That’s why I use mode II or 0 (silent mode) if I don’t want sound, and then I switch to magnetic detection, mode II, in the same area to find any spying devices.Lastly, I use the camera finder, but this requires some imagination to find hidden cameras, like a fake smoke alarm or a disguised book with a lens. The bug detector’s instructions have definitely made me wiser about how to better detect spying devices.
