A Book of Angels: Reflections on Angels Past and Present, and True Stories of How They Touch Our L ives

I had previously read The Ecstatic Journey which I enjoyed so very much. I went on to buy "The Book of Angels" which I loved for so many reasons, It was a joy to read, I loved the way Sophy Burnham covered both the positive and negative aspects of Life's insights. There was nothing that I didn't know already, but rather like being with an old mate, going over a well loved journey. I loved the quotations in both books, most I knew, but was delighted to see them fit so well into both books. I have also purchased The Book of Angels for friends whom I know will love settling down for a good read.

Since I have been well into my senior years my interest in the esoteric and spiritual realms has become a passion. One of my reading interests has included Angels and I have read quite a few books on the subject lately. While browsing on Amazon I came across this older 331 page soft cover book published in 1990 (A book of Angles: Reflections on Angels past, present and the stories of how they touch our lives by Sophy Burnham) and purchased it for a bargain price.This interesting and informative large volume focuses on personal experiences and stories of how Angels have entered people’s lives and helped them. Some of the various types of Angels is also covered and there is also many poems in this book relating to Angels. This book is organized into four parts covering the following topics: (Angels & Ghosts I have known) Angels unawares, turn a stone/start a wing. Angelology or knowledge of Angels: the sons of God, a thunder like drumming, the battle of heaven & princes of hell and the Angelic Doctors. Images & dreams: Wings of silence, my black Angel & other friendly spirits and the last part, letters on Angles.Even though this book more than 30 years old it is still a great read for anyone interested in Angels.Rating: 4 Stars. A beautiful book, with lots of information about REAL angels. If you're into 'angels' .. Sophy Burnham is THE expert to follow. She writes with a flow that is not only easy to understand, but allows the reader to be eager to turn the next page. I'd suggest that you check into all of her angel books. They are totally inspiring, and educational. I heartily suggest you find out more about Sophy's works. There's not enough room to say all that is intriguing. A total "Can't Miss" author .. every time, every book.

Put very simply, I love this book. My favorite book of Angels.

I just finished this last night. Some of it I really enjoyed (the true angel encounters/stories). But, a lot of the "angel" stories at the end of the book were not angel encounters at all. They were encounters (visits) from deceased loved ones. This was written a long time ago though so I can understand some of the confusion however, I don't know why some of the stories in the last part of the book had been included (some were either very confusing or just downright offensive and profane! The title is "A Book of Angels" not " A Book on "NDE's" or "A Book of visits by deceased loved ones".

This is a lovely book. I read it as soon as it was printed, and this last purchase was a gift for my cousin. The information was not only enlightening, the prose brought back memories of my own "encounters," and I was prompted to submit my own stories to the author, as did many, many readers. I was surprised and gratified to see that Ms. Burnham provided a history of the belief in angels by diverse religions. I recommend this book for everyone, "believer" or not.

This is one of my favorite books by Sophy Burnham! If you have ever had an experience with an angel or know someone who has, you need to read this book!!!

I, for myself have already experienced support & messages from Angels and finally, I find a wonderful book with a lot of „background information“ and stories about encounters with those magnificent creatures. I am grateful for Mrs. Sophy Burnham, for her wonderful recollection in this book. I am sure, I will read this book again and recommend it to my friends and family members as well. T h a n k you. this is a book I have been needing as a guitar player and the relation with Angels is very important......

J'ai beaucoup aimé ce livre, en version originale anglais américain, et très bien écrit. Oui je le recommande - et je l'ai déjà offert à deux personnes.J'ai acheté aussi la version française, mais là, il y a une longue introduction écrite par le traducteur, qui se permet de mettre ses lecteurs en garde contre certaines "incohérances" surtout d'ordre réligieux, ce que je trouve un peu condescendant. Ma version (d'occasion) date de 1994 - la première édition, donc peut-être dans les éditions françaises plus récentes on fait plus de confiance aux lecteurs français de pouvoir réfléchir pour eux-mêmes.En tout cas - bonne lecture - et gardez votre "curiosità" !
