Well made and effective
Although fairly expensive, this is the best ah so I’ve had, and I’ve had quite a few. It is well made, sturdy, and has a finger depression for comfortable and secure cork removal. I’ve already bought another.

Well crafted, great gift, blades almost too slippery
This blade style corkscrew is a great conversational piece for any wine lover, and essential if you have ever broken corks in a bottle. The screw has good weight to it and simply looks great, although you will wonder what the notch at the base of the handle or the slit in the sheath is for (they're both decorative). It comes in a luxe cardboard box which makes this corkscrew a great gift for any wine lover, and It also works quite well. Many of the blade style screws I have tried have suffered from one or more of the following:1) Rough blades2) Misaligned bladesThe Peugeot is the only one that has none of these flaws. The blades are perfectly aligned and they go in smoothly on either side of the cork. However the smoothness is also one of two minor flaws which make this product just less than perfect:1) The blades are almost too smooth. They feel coated and while it goes in easy it also pulls out too easily while you are pulling. Many of the blade screws I have used require no more than half a turn while pulling before the cork comes out, this one requires a full turn or more, or you have to push the screw back in. Either way you have to stop and readjust mid-motion at least once2) There is no foil cutter. Some blade screws have sharpened blades so you can use it also as a foil cutter, or the sheath has a foil cutter. This one has neither. Admittedly the ones that have sharpened blades are poor foil cutters so perhaps this is nitpicky, but I always feel that one shouldn't have to use multiple tools to do one thingDespite that I am very happy with my purchase and consider this one of the better corkscrews to own.

Wine Cork Remover
Very classy look and works well on older bottles of wine where cork is suspect to remove with standard screw type

Failed on 5 different bottles.
I’m had a different brand before and it worked for 18years flawlessly until one of the prongs broke. Had high hopes for this opener because the design looks beautiful. But I have to report I tried to open a bottle of Brunello and prongs slips out mid way, it does not seem to get a good grip on the cork, it did the same to a bottle Malbec, burgundy and Napa Cab. Failed on 5 bottles. I am not returning it only because it looks good and so I can still use it to open topochico bottles.

Better than the el-cheapo alternatives
The Peugeot Pw200251 Mathus Blade-Style Corkscrew superficially resembles the lower price alternatives, but is a superior product well worth the extra cost if you will be using it regularly. The blades have a thinner cross section and are tapered along their widths making insertion between a cork and bottle easier. The blade design also reduces friction, reducing the likelihood of pushing the cork into the bottle.
