It keeps you very warm and doesn't hold odors.
First, this was the most I have paid for any item of clothing other that a new winter coat. But I'm a big fan of merino wool so I thought I'd give it a try. I bought this for use in the cold Wisconsin winters where the temps can get very sub zero, this winter getting down to -30F air temp. Now when the temps were just in the 30s I would wear this top underneath my wool coat and was perfectly warm. In fact, when the temp approached freezing this top was actually too warm when wearing my winter wool coat. When things got very cold I would wear a wool sweater over this top, then the wool coat, and I was perfectly warm. So keeping warm is no problem.I'm retired and don't work at all and I would wear this top on my hour and a half long walks. Since I'm not around people much at all, it allowed me to put the odor resistance of this top to the test. So I wore it every day for a month before I washed it my hand and let it dry flat. No odor, none. After more than 2 months now, that is the only time I have washed it although I have not worn it for as long all the time as I did during that first month when I was testing its odor resistance.I'm guessing this merino wool top will give me years of warm wear. Highly recommended.

These are a fantastic base layer
These are a fantastic base layer. Not too heavy, and not too light, just perfect. I got the top and bottoms and I use them for extremely active outdoor sports. These things are seriously pretty magical. I swear that they keep me warm when I'm starting to get chilly, but somehow also seem to cool me down when I am sweaty. These things dry very quickly and unlike my other synthetic expensive baselayers, these don't leave me feeling clammy, and then freezing. These are warm even if you are soaking wet with sweat, and if that happens, just keep walking or being active and they will dry with your body heat. I used these in Afghanistan as a winter base layer, I use them for backpacking (to hike in or to sleep in to extend the range of my sleeping bag), and I also use them under my foul weather gear for sailing in Maine. Awesome product and they fit true to size. I'm 5'10" and 200lbs athletic muscular build and the size large in top and bottom fit great.

My sleeping wear when backpacking
These mid weight merino wool underwear are all I need during cold nights in the back country along with my down quilt I'm never cold. The quality of them is great, they're a great bargain for a REAL mid weight 100% merino wool base layer. Being all wool they still don't itch at all, they're soft, and wick away moisture. If you wore these under say bibb overalls with a flannel shirt, you could work outside in the winter without even a coat on in I'd say 30 degree weather, Wool gives you the added benefit that if you got rained on wool will still keep you warm although wet. These are very high quality wool base layer on par with Smartwool at a big savings over them.

Awesome product
I took these to Illinois for a bow hunting trip in November. Being born and raised in the south, I have never experienced cold like I did that week. I used my Meriwool as a base layer on two of the days I was there. If you’re looking for a miracle fabric that will keep you warm under any weather conditions, keep looking. What I will say about them is, they do keep you dry. Walking a ways with a tree stand on your back you tend to sweat. On the days I wore these, I didn’t notice the after effects of the cold caused from being wet. They are very well made and they do not make you itch. The quality is excellent. Today I wore them once again on a local hunt in Eastern NC. Temp was 38. They worked perfect as a baselayer and in warmth. If you are going to use these in extremely low temps, upgrade to a heavier weight fabric. If it’s say 32 and above, I’d highly recommend these. I will buy a couple more pairs but at least one will be the heavy weight ones.Scott
