The perfect companion to a longer chef's knife, this 5 inch ceramic santoku knife is perfect for smaller jobs. The thinner blade allows for precise slicing of meats, fruits and vegetables. The razor sharp edge allows for precision slicing. As with all Miyako ceramic knives, this knife features our advanced ceramic blade for ultimate edge retention. The glossy surface is not only aesthetically pleasing, it also makes for easy cleaning. The non-porous surface also prevents the transfer of odors and flavors.

A dull review (pun intended!)
Bought to compliment my "travel kitchen" to keep on my diet/calorie count, I carry this knife in a checked-in suitcase when I travel. In conjunction with a cutting board, food scale, a bowl, and hotel mini-fridge, I can make decent salads when on the road.Only complaint is that I believe this knife to be inferior to the kitchen knives that i use at home in that it feels much duller (it is having trouble getting through carrots). If it were a regular knife, I would have it sharpened, but i am not sure if you can do that to a ceramic one without sending it back to the manufacturer. I cannot do that at this time because it is in use as I travel, lol.

I love this brand
[...] has a wonderful reviews. I purchased both a Santoku and Paring knife several months ago. This Santoku is not flat bladed as the internet describes this style knife. It has a gentle pitch towards the end of the blade which allows you to rocker around a mound of things you wished diced finer. Personally, I wish the handle was a touch longer but it's fine. My hand does not cramp while using it. It's much sharper than my other brand of ceramic knife that I've had 4-5yrs, even when it was new. It is easy to cut yourself with this brand being so sharp. If you are like me, you won't notice it until later (haven't cut myself bad enough to bleed thankfully). It does not come with blade covers, as the manufacturer requests that it be kept either in a knife block or its original box so they are not damaged by banging of blades together.(You open the box on the side which is held closed by a magnet). These should not be put in a dishwasher. In the literature it states it's normal for any ceramic knife to get small chips in the cutting surface, which should not effect its use. I have not found this to be a problem in these Miyako knives or my previously purchased utility knife.

I had a minor issue with the product that was really due to my own error and they backed their product like you wouldn't believe
A product is an extension of the company that stands behind it. I am such a fan of this company. I had a minor issue with the product that was really due to my own error and they backed their product like you wouldn't believe. A+++ LOVE this brand
