Yes it will , a regular wheel will also sharpen HSS

Which wheel has the finest grit for precision grinding

The lower number grits i.e. 80 are the most aggressive

Please help . Can this type of grinding wheel sharpen a lathe knife ?

Put it on a smaller grinder and the wheel was a little wide but it worked. I use it on cardide bits and it works fine.
