An exhaustively researched essential read to understanding the greatness of James DeWitt Yancey
Whether you're already a fan of Dilla or someone who is seeking a detailed explanation of why this producer is so revered although he has a lack of hits to his credits all will be revealed to you after reading this book. I couldn't put it down regardless of its length because it was so engaging. Highly recommended, this book will be getting revisited again and again. If you're on the fence about buying it? DO IT. If you're a music fan period, it's a must own.

On the level of Robert Caro's Power Broker and work on LBJ
The level of journalism combined with awesome storytelling is next level in this book. With each page you walk away learning some new about the history of music and beyond; how Dilla was legitimately a genius; and with a brand new ear for all you hear and, see.

Quintessential book on Dilla
This book is fan-tas-tic. Really in depth look at Dilla’s life and what makes him a musical genius. Part biography, part musicology, fully dope. Raise it up!

Good books are like a loaf of bread
I haven't even started reading it yet and the book shines all on its own. Like a good loaf of bread, good typography and design makes text look appetizing even before you sink your teeth in it. Amazing jacket design, and from what I can tell this is a very thorough book on one of the legends of hiphop. Respect.
