Relentless: Gray Man, Book 10

Not As Good As Previous Books
I did not like that Court was ill and still had to work. It took something away from the action and story.

Love Gray Man!
Bet you can't read just one!

Good action book
Like most of this author’s books, this is full of action, although I haven’t finished it yet. But along the way I learned some new things.

Non-stop action!
Start reading after you've finished your day and your evening meal, on a day where you don't have to be rested, on the top of your game the next morning. Finish the book in one sitting, as there are no good places to stop reading. The book rushes faster and faster, and the end may surprise you. Don't look for justice, love and friendship are better. Court Gentry remains a favorite noble man.

A good action novel with more intrigue than typical for the Gray Man
A strong Gray Man effort, but not his best. I give Greaney credit for trying new things and innovating. These books are all about action, place, and danger. The formula is reliable and satisfying for action novel devotees. In the past he tried a first person novel; the results weren't great. Here, it feels like there is more emphasis on intrigue and strategy, rather than on Gentry's action scenes. In fact, for the first half of the book I found myself wondering why there isn't more of Gentry? Greaney is no le Carre, but it is obvious he is trying to develop this series into more than pure adrenalin, and I credit him for that.I enjoyed the book. Once Gentry got to be himself (almost, considering the medical issue that made me feel like this was a book about Superman under the influence of kryptonite), and the pace quickened, I found it to be as enjoyable as most of the other series books. If you're a Gray Man fan, you have to buy it. If you're thinking about diving into this landscape, start at the beginning and work your way here. You won't be disappointed. It was good to see Hightower return, albeit as a somewhat defanged sidekick. Zoya is here as well, but her relationship with Cort is a weak point of the book. Okay -- killer secret agents have trust issues. I think that's plausible. But at some point we should see a real relationship develop -- why put Zoya in the books if you're not going to develop things in much more depth?I recommend the book. It's great escapism and pretty good action. You won't be disappointed.

...another 5-star action-packed Gray Man novel!
Book Review - Mark Greaney’s 10th Gray Man novel is nothing more than a solid action-packed adventure with lots of espionage intrigue, the usual series suspects, plus plenty of new antagonists, and a really good setup for the next Gray Man installment. Relentless also had some nice progression in Court Gentry’s character without changing the overall tone of the series. While reading/listening to Greaney’s Gray Man series, I savor every word in every chapter. It’s like watching an action movie in your mind. I can’t put the books down nor stop listening to the audiobooks with Jay Synder as the narrator. Greaney’s writing takes you along in vivid HD color with every word! He creates a virtual story in your head and you can’t stop until it’s finished. Relentless is another fast-pace Gray Man book that has a couple of different storylines intertwined. Yes there is significant action, and also strategy and subterfuge (deceit & trickery) between multiple characters from several different countries. And Greaney does an excellent job in not making the multiple storylines too complex and difficult to follow. From Venezuela, Germany, Russia, and the Middle East, the overall story joins all the different characters together for a final and dramatic encounter in Berlin. As usual, Greaney’s research and spy-craft knowledge were very detailed and acutely accurate. And his character development of Court (especially after ten books), Zoya and Zack Hightower just keeps getting better with every new book. The epilogue was not that unexpected but the cliffhanger ending (in my opinion) definitely was. I am now left to patiently wait for Book 11 in the Gray Man series and I will do so anxiously!

Greaney’s Gray Man takes you on another exciting adventure
Mark Greaney’s Gray Man was one of my best discoveries of the pandemic. I think I spent two weeks straight engrossed in his books. Are they a little far fetched? Maybe at times, but they’re still believable especially if you want to believe that good always wins and after the year we just had, we should all feel that way. Greaney does not skimp on the meat. His research is amazing and he includes the most minute details to enhance his characters and his plot. Once you read a Gray Man book, you will be hooked. Cheering for an assassin might seem strange, but the Gray Man is an assassin with high morals. He only “takes the garbage out” and only kills when the lives of others or his own are at risk. I highly recommend this book along with all the Gray Man books. Greaney didn’t get his research from books. He traveled extensively and trained with special forces to get a feel for what they faced and an in depth view of the horrors of the world that the majority of us are blissfully unaware of the fact that they exist. This man really invested himself into his books and his passion for the subject matter is apparent. It’s what makes reading his books such an exciting adventure. His books are lengthy but never boring. They’re like Ludlum books, so intriguing that it’s impossible to put them down. They are so full of carefully crafted characters, good and bad, and they provide an in depth look at the extremely complicated geopolitical currents running just below the surface.,

Not his best work
Not just the Grey man, but a host of other protagonists, the book seems to follow a different formulas than its predecessors. Too many characters that don’t get developed, or they like they are there just to pad out the story. Not enough of the main character Court, and when he is in the action he’s with other characters. It feels very disjointed and choppy. It may be the first of this series I don’t finish.
