Autobahn88 Trunk Lift Kit (UPGRADED), compatible with 1992-2002 Mazda RX7 FD3S 13B REW (Matt Black)

While reading the various OEM options not available in America for my '17 3 I found that the Russian market can choose to have hood struts. I of course looked to see if I could order them through some means, but the only option was to spend well over $200 USD to order them and help fund communism in doing so. Being that I am a resourceful American capitalist I knew there must be another way, Chinese labor producing goods at prices well under the competition.Enter Autobahn88's hood struts. They are not OEM and they don't look like a factory option would, but it works well.The install took all of 20 minutes and the results are good. The struts hold the hood up higher than the stock prop does and they have enough force to push the hood up on their own past a certain point. They clear everything but the rubber trim pieces that cover the edge of the fenders, which only lifts up the corner at the lower strut mount. The upper mounts have a foam pad to help protect the underside of the hood. The lower mounts do bend the edge of the piece of the fender they mount to slightly, which may lead to a possible rusting point down the road. The instructions for install are lacking but provide enough pictures to figure it out so long as you have the basic ability to match similar things and know which hand is left and which is, through the process of elimination, the right. The kit included everything I needed except for a 10mm and 12mm socket and ratchet to make use of them with. The kit goes so far as to include grease and a cotton swab to apply it.I would have liked the hood mounts to attach using both bolts for the hood, but it isn't absolutely necessary. The lower mounts could have the ball mount drop lower and clear the rubber trim, but they don't need to. The lower mounts could really do with a slight standoff to avoid bending the edge of the fender. The instructions really should be more detailed, my countrymen are eating dissolving laundry detergent packets and could use more handholding when being instructed on what shouldn't and shouldn't be done.Overall it is a solid option that costs less than other options and does what is is suppose to.Note: The mounts pictured are nothing like the ones that come with the kit.

Easy to install. One of my brackets broke but the seller was good and sent me a replacement piece.It is a nice upgrade to the hood prop.

Good product, installation was not too difficult. The instructions sucks, if you are good with technical stuff, this should not be much of a challenge.

Bought this kit as it’s the only one I could find that will fit my vehicle which comes with hood/bonnet explosion units. The kit arrived to the U.K without issue with paper instructions and a QR code to view a Mighty Car Mods YouTube video to watch.First impressions are good. You get replacement hex screws to replace your hood/bonnet screws with. So bare that in mind when you come to fit this as it’s not just a socket set you need here. The bracket that fits around the fender for the hood/bonnet explosion kit is not bad, although it’s flat, where the bolt for the front of the kit dips down. The bolts you appear to reuse here were too shallow and could only manage to use them on the right side but they dont tighten too well. On the left it was no good to reuse the bolts as they wouldn’t thread into the fender. In the end I managed to reuse the bolts taken out of the hood and they fit like a charm. I have contacted the seller to make them aware. Ideally to get this to fit properly you need a further 4 bolts like the ones you get for the hood/bonnet to get a perfect fit here. Apart from that the lifters themselves seem to do a good job.

The media could not be loaded.  Ok look they work and look good but their a little confusing to install. I have a 94 Miata and it didn’t fit. The lift is way to thick so the hood won’t close

Probably the best kit you can get for a Miata without cutting or drilling. Quick and easy install. However the cylinders hit the upper fender screw. The kit provides a shorter screw but it still hits. I recommend sanding down the provided screws to clear the cylinders. After install the hood will sit higher with about 1/8" gap or so on the sides. The hood will also feel loose since it will no longer rest on factory mounts. You will need to space off the factory rubber mounts a bit or bend the hood to touch them. I just bent the hood.

I really enjoy this product. It will leave a small gap in the hood near the windshield. I wish there was a different way to install this without cutting the rubber part out the seal shut the hood.

Once installed this product worked perfectly "so far". The piece that mounts to the fender was a challenge as there was no tool, as some of the vidios available showed, to mount this piece. I filed out the larger hole a bit to get access for a wrench to support the nut to secure this piece. Then what should have been a simple phase to secure the struts at each end was NOT SIMPLE. The vidios showed the ball receiving the strut mount with a simple hand squeeze. I tried a pare of pliers, still no luck I had to remove the wire spring which stopped the ball from entering it's mount , then after entering the receiver, reinstall the wire spring to hold the ball in place. This part made me a bit nervous, as I could have easily dropped this piece in the engine bay where it would have rested on the plastic tray and would have been less than a fun job to retrieve. I managed all four with no hitches, but I am not impressed with the instruction kit provided, and would give this kit at best a 5 out of 10.

En el caso de RX8 hay que recortar un poco un plástico del vano motor por que tropieza en el al cerrar y queda deformado.Da igual como los montes, tropieza si o si, hay que rebajar un poco la pestaña en la que toca.Eso sí, son faciles de poner y quitar, en ITV los quito, no quiero líos, que bastante raro miran ya al pobre coche.

Works perfectly on 94 rx7. Stock hood Raises slowly and stays up. How long it stays that w way, only time will tell.

Der Artikel ist gut, lässt sich mit etwas technischem Verständnis auch innerhalb von 15 Minuten einbauen.Mit einer besseren Anleitung ginge dies wahrscheinlich noch schneller, ansonsten ist der Artikel nach ersten Erkenntnissen gut und ich würde ihn wieder kaufen.
