How do you open the top ? I can’t open it .

Very carefully, slip your fingernail under the side seam, but beware, the items can spill very easily, it’s not designed well, but it is a separate top and bottom-you just have to find the seam.

Can this product be used on clothing

Yes.. I use them in fabric as well as glass and ceramic
