If you're hiking with your trusty Estwing rock hammer, and you want to carry it on your belt, this is for you. I selected this instead of a standard metal hammer loop because I know a metal loop allows the hammer to swing. Not a big deal on the job site, but if you're hiking, that swinging hammer would become annoying. This belt-mounted hammer holder secures the hammer in a durable, Estwing-quality holder. A bit pricey, but it's a once-in-a-lifetime buy, so get the best.

I've worn every manner of tool belt with hammer holster for fifty years, from the $200 Occidentals to the $20 cheap ones. Now I just wear a shop apron while woodworking and a belt with only this holster to hold whatever hammer or mallet I'm using. This is the best hammer holster I've ever encountered.

I'm a tile worker and a finish carpenter so I spend a lot of time in small bathroom / closet spaces with lots of delicate fixtures / porcelain tubs / etc all around me- this means wearing large tool bags is out of the question. Thus I usually wear a padded "cobra buckle" style belt with just a few small pouches for the tools I need on me. Most belt-worn hammer loops stick out pretty wide, so I've avoided them... but the Estwing "Hammer Holster" is made of leather and it's very low-profile, so it won't bump or scratch things around me as I work. I like that the hammer is held to the leg by the "holster" design rather than being able to swing around like with 'loop' style holders. As can be seen in the picture, I usually just carry a very small "stubby" hammer for setting finish nails or staples, but my Stanley Anti-Vibe framing hammer also fits fine. I like that the hammer holster also has a pocket that can securely hold a few pencils and/or a putty knife, and the small loop is useful for attaching small things on a carabiner (a small magnetic studfinder, in my case, which also sticks to the metal rivets for really secure storage.) It also has a velcro section for morale patches if you're into that sort of thing. Overall, a great solution for folks who work in "tight" or delicate spaces.
