Screws on securely. Perfect size. Appearance is neat & clean.UPDATE: After using for a few weeks, I find that they work well, BUT a major flaw is when you need to measure out salt & pepper for recipes. A lot collects in the metal screw on shaker part, so when you unscrew the cap, a lot of salt/pepper falls out. It's kind of annoying!

Besides being glass where you can see if a refill is needed, both shakers have plenty of holes which are useful especially when cooking, just a lighter touch when seasoning afterward. Very pleased with simplicity and functionality. Excellent value.
