Pippi in the South Seas (Pippi Longstocking)

It's a great story about a fearless, impossibly fortunate little girl. However, parents be aware, it was written by a Swede in the 1950s, and there are mild racial topics and talk of cannibalism. Probably suitable for 7+, although my 5 year old absolutely loves the books, and this one is her favorite (it doesn't hurt that there is a character called Moana). The translation could be modernized, too.

Fun stuff, 5 year old was able to follow the story and enjoy it for many many evenings (it's quite long book). Some stuff might be "controversial" for Texans (my daughter was shocked that Pippi doesn't really respect teachers) but Pippi is coming from Scandinavia...

I loved Pippi as a child, my daughter did as well and now we are able to share with my granddaughters. They love Pippi! The books, the movies . . . pretty much anything Pippi! :)

My daughter loves pippi. We now have the complete set and read a chapter every night. She is 7 and now sleeps backwards on her bed, just like pippi longstocking.
