Simple, Functional, No Lighter Fluid Smell or Taste.
These things do have a limited life span -- that's just the nature of the beast. I see no reason to spend extra money on the pricier, deluxe versions of this when this chimney starter will do the job nicely. A crumpled bit of paper will get it fired up and in about 20 minutes, your charcoal is hot and can be dumped without smelling like gasoline. The handle remains cool to the touch. Our previous one lasted for at least 3 years, and we grill often in good weather! Eventually, the intense heat will wear out the metal and it will get rusty, but, compared to the cost of lighter fluid, it's a great deal. No to even mention the risk of keeping a can of fuel near open flames.

I like these charcoal chimneys with a wooden handle. This one works as advertised.

No more lighter fluid taste
This works great for my Smokey Joe bbq. Put paper in the bottom and charcoal on top, light the paper abs you're good to go. I've used it in the pouring rain and the charcoal still become hot. Cheaper and cleaner than using lighter fluid.

Bought this for new grill/smoker recently. Lighting of coals is simple and easy, pretty fast. Will come in handy.

Just as good as the $20-$30 starters
This chimney starter is just as good as the expensive ones.I think it's great quality, it should hold up for years to come.I fill the charcoal to the top put two or three pieces of newspaper on the bottom of it light it. Within a few minutes you can see a flame shooting from the top.It's a lot better than trying to stack your for cats on the grill and then lighting them.

THIS THING IS GREAT!
We are fairly new charcoal grilling peeps. Tried doing it without this, not so good, but we got this thing and it's amazing. Just a lil bit of paper in the bottom and the coals light without fluid. Totally impressed! Shortens the time we have to wait for the coals to be hot. We would definitely recommend!

4 months and the bottom fell out
Unfortunately the bottom is attached with aluminum rivets that can’t take the heat. Otherwise it is made well. I would have to repair it by re-attaching the bottom with some screws
