Beautiful game, but very hard to table with my group.
I had seen some Youtube reviews of this game and thought that it looked like a ton of fun. It was a colorful game that used dice as workers in a worker placement system. After some thought I purchased it. Sadly, i've discovered that while its a beautiful game and very colorful, its also one of the most intimidating games when you try to explain how to play it. That has resulted in it not making it to the table with my gaming group. I only have a couple of games like that, and a couple of others that I managed to table only to discover that their complexity made them hard to play. I'm going to continue to try to get this to the table, but i'd say that the complexity makes it a game that I can't rate highly. I want to play my games often and this one is never going to be one I can regularly get people to try out.

Products without consideration for customers
It is a product that does not care about customers. This product was damaged before delivery.

The great spirit counter is broken
Everything was fine, except for this detail that ruins the experience of unpacking a new game, I wish they could change this counter.

Become the next Great Forest Spirt through Virtue…points
Artwork: 5/5 The art is inspired by Japanese mythology, mostly kid friendly. The scariest cards are an evil dog and a woman that looks like a garbage collector from the movie Labyrinth. The Kodama are cool, it’s all really cool. Game Mechanics: 4/5 There’s a lot going on, but after a single play the rhythm of the game will be easy enough, but getting people to sit down at such a busy/scary looking game is the hard part. There’s card drafting, set collection, tracks to race, worker placement, engine building, and math at the end when the points are all added up! The game has a lot of really good mechanics in it and I don’t see anything that should have been removed. Replay Value: 3/5 Mostly because it will be hard for people to sit at the table in the first place, but it’s modular in lots of ways depending on player count and regular tiles that change the tracks and other starting items. The game doesn’t really change that much though, so if you play it you see everything there is to offer, but you can always try to score better. Value for your $: Under $60 is a good price, if you can get it for mid to low $50. There’s a ton of game in the box and if you can get people to sit down to play, it’s one of the best point salad games I’ve played. I’d recommend this game before Everdell to people though, even if this one is a little bit scarier looking. Conclusion: Grab it if you think the artwork looks cool and you can handle something that seems overwhelming but isn’t.

One of my favourite board games! The Japanese folklore theme is interesting and everything is beautifully illustrated, from the board to all the components. Overall quality is very high and the game is very fun. But do be aware Bitoku is a complex game that comes with a large rulebook. It will take at least 2-3 hours to play and requires a commitment to learn and then to teach the game. You and your fellow gamers will need patience! If you want a casual game that is quick to learn and play, look elsewhere.

Might seem overwhelming at first sight, but although this game has many mechanics, they are quite simple. The layout and quality is top notch!
