The Octopus (Volume 5) (Lighthouse Family)

This and the other Lighthouse family books prove that enhancing "everyday" can make imaginations soar. She's seeing there is an art to conversation and the adventures are riveting but not too complicated or scary. What a delight to read such well written stories. The spirit of family is quite frankly refreshing and reassuring. My daughter loves these books! I could only get "The Octopus" as a hardcover. Wow, what a difference, I will replace the paperbacks with hardcovers now. If someone you love LOVES this series and you bought the paperbacks to save money - replace them with hardcovers! The pencil drawings spring to life! They are so much clearer! My child and I love looking at the drawings every time I read the book, they're so detailed and yet lyrical and uncluttered. What a treat!

My daughter began this series at our library and loved them! This one was missing so I bought it, let her read it, then donated it to the library for a complete set. This is a great little series for readers just beginning to read little chapter books. For reference, my daughter just began 3rd grader and is an average level reader.

I would highly recommend these as an alternative to all those silly fairy tales that 1st and 2nd graders are reading these days. They are an easy enough read, and are actually interesting! Try them at the library before you buy, you'll want the whole set!

My daughters and I adore this series of books. I would frame all of the pictures if I weren't so in love with the sweet and inspiring stories! The characters are lovely and good and the illustrations are beautiful. They are a joy to curl up with at the end of the day.

Really sweet book. My 4 year old really enjoyed it a lot and asks me to read it often!
