This book is a lovely read just in time for autumn, the photos are beautiful, and I like that I'm more aware of how the simple things we take for granted every day can make a huge impact with just a little thought and minor adjustment.The mini stories are quite nice but sometimes waffle-some, if you've already read "the little book of hygge" it may seem a little repetitive in the beginning but it goes into more detail. I loved all the research information, especially about how certain things impact a patient's healing time and kids' reactions to certain lighting.Love this book.

I'm moving home soon and thought I'd buy this book to see if there were any ideas about making my new home feel more hygge.I thought from the blurb this book would be mainly about design but there's a lot about lifestyle in it. There are things it made me think about buying however you don't really need to spend money in order to incorporate the suggestions. In fact, there's a couple of pages about how people spend money on things we don't need and on "hygge washing" (how businesses use the term to sell things that you don't need for hygge).I enjoyed reading it and it gave me a few ideas about what I'd like to do for my new place. I've never read a book about hygge before but I felt I naturally knew a lot of the suggestions. However, there's something more inspiring about having all of the information together in a book. You could probably find it all on articles online but I feel like the studies referenced in the book add to its value. It takes it from thinking, "oh that's a nice idea" and forgetting about it to "I see the value in why this would help" and I'm more likely to implement it. They are fascinating in showing the impact our homes and relationships have on our wellbeing.All in all it was an enjoyable and easy read. As someone who reads a lot of fiction but isn't keen on non fiction, I found it interesting and engaging. I'll keep the book to reference again as I'm trying to organise my new home.
