Great, Complete Edition
This is a fantastic edition of Joseph Jacob's English fairy tale collections. There are just no competitors in print that are this complete and of this high of quality. If anyone was wondering, Jacobs published 2 volumes of English fairy tales: English Fairy Tales (1890), and More English Fairy Tales(1893). This edition DOES contain all stories from both volumes. Page/print quality is good, and far better than the bargain book/print on demand alternatives for these stories. The stories themselves are lovely and if one appreciates them for what they are, they are very interesting and entertaining. It is a window into folk history/legends that developed in England over centuries. Do note that many of these stories are pretty dark and not suitable for younger children.

Finally Located A Book From Childhood (after years)
I bought this to have a childhood memory I could recapture. Many of these fairy tales were new to me. There was one specifically my Mother would read repeatedly at my request which I have never seen in print since the mid1940's. In case you've not been aware many of the Grimm's fairy tales can be quite intense for small children...that includes many in this compendium. (I was drawn to the one story because of a repeated phrase throughout and that Mom was excellent at reading with inflection.

Heads up for those who order the book published by the company First Rate Publishers.
I ordered this book for my daughter who loves to read fairy tales. The publisher seems to print on demand. The size of print is very small. It doesn't seem as small on the screen if you go to the "Look Inside!" feature. The font size in the book appears to be 9 which makes it hard to read not only for a child, but also for an adult. While I love the stories, I don't love the very small print.

With or Without You? Without You Wins
There are some nice folk tales and folk lore in some of these stories. I find, though, I can live without it. It's kinda like a bowl of oatmeal. I know it's good, but...

Ok, but not what I expected
The stories in this set are not what I'd call good reading for younger children. My 8 year old was not interested in them at all. The print was a tad hard to read as well. Perhaps when my children are older, they will choose to try reading this again.

Brought back memories of my childhood.

Full of typos
βHenny-Pennyβ is riddled with typos. The animal names are spelled differently every other sentence.

Beautiful book!
Beautifully bound and full of wonderful tales that I remember from my childhood. Wish it had more illustrations, but other than that, I think this was a terrific buy!

Traditional fairy tales
I was really pleased to get this book as I had it as a child. These are the old Traditional stories and they should not be lost.

I love fairy tales, I read little bits of some of these to my son. the writing style is good and easy to follow so as he gets older I imagine he will read them to me.
