Kept 8 year old grandson busy for two days
Our grandson is the type of kid who needs to have a project or he is getting into mischief. We exchanged Christmas gifts the weekend before Christmas and he opened this kit immediately and got started. It required very minimal help. He loved it and felt so proud that he could put these together himself. Very good quality for a low price. We will get more for future occasions.

Multiple fun projects at a good price
This kit allows your child to make 4 separate projects, and isn't one of those kits where you can only make one project at a time, and have to keep disassembling your finished project in order to make an alternate project. The projects are straightforward enough for a middle schooler to do on his own. The solar panels are not especially powerful, but they do work, and the price of this kit is more-than-fair for what the kit supplies.

Great stem activity
I did this with my students. I did have to get more screw drivers to complete them. It would be better if 4 small screw drivers were included. The screws are small but my students enjoyed making these and racing the cars.

Son loves it
If you have any children that love science projects and like making solar toys, this set will keep them occupied for quite a while. My son loves it and has spent hours playing with it and trying it out. Full sunlight is definitely recommended for best results and this has not been a deterrent. If anything, it encourages him to go outside more when the weather permits him to do so.

Fun for students, excellent pictures
I bought 3 plastic kits and 3 wooden kits for my 9th grade science class of English Language learners who are from all parts of the world. I was a bit concerned about directions with their limited English, but the pictures were excellent! Every student was able to get their machine together with minimal help. The plastic kits were a bit more frustrating as they involved small screws. It took longer to get those machines together. I was concerned about the solar panels, but they worked as soon as we got outside. The students loved putting these together!
