Fortress FX-11 7lb Anchor

Once this anchor latched onto something, it was incredible. Multiple times we had to tie it off on a cleat and use the motor to pull it out. 4 lake seasons and all was great, held steady in high winds. However, the anchor was so good that it did not want to release and the line snapped. I would definitely use this anchor again, but not for the price and possibility of it leaving me again.

this anchor works great, its nice and light but holds super strong. my boat is a 35 ft performance boat and this anchor was only rated up to 33 ft. it held not only my boat but 3 other boats rafted to me with no other anchors out. The other boats were a 35 formula, 27 kryptonite and a 25 cobalt. held all day in a 12mph wind. this was most impressive. so i would say if you want a great anchor for sand or mud this is a good choice.

We are very happy with this anchor! We purchased it to replace the same exact anchor we lost a in a wreck. We were a little concerned about ordering it, because of statements listed saying this vendor is usually past time on his deliveries. It was the heat of red snapper season and didn't want to be without a anchor for to many days. We jumped and ordered. The item arrived ahead of stated date!!!! It has a few minor scratches, but we can live with them. We were very Happy and out Snapper fishing in no time!!!

I anchor in hard sand bottom and rough surf just off of island beaches. This anchor sticks on the first try in those conditions which were difficult to hook with my previous Danforth-style anchor. They may look the same but there is night and day difference in performance. Instead of multiple attempts to hook I just toss the Fortress overboard and it sticks. Can't say enough good things about it.

It seems my chain beats the anchor down and snarls around the anchor. When this happens, the anchor wont set and I have to pull up a tangled mess and try again. This doesnt happen every time but it does happen. Now, this could just be a fluke (no pun intended) but it never happens with my galvanized anchor. My thinking is, the light weight aluminum anchor "flutters" it's way down and tangles in the chain/rope. I took this one off and went back to a 13 lb galv. anchor and havent had the problem since.
