Does exactly what it's designed for
I waited a while before reviewing to make sure it would work, and hold out on such a tough job.(Before leaving comments - Lady is a rescue from a meth house that was using her for a puppy-mill to pay for more drugs. She, along with several other mastiffs were rescued. She and her brother came to our house. We didn't do this to her. We didn't get her and her brother from a breeder. And we don't breed her. We are merely here to make the rescues as comfortable as possible for as long as possible.)Lady has one particularly bad joint that she takes several meds for and they do help with the pain, but not with her leg slipping under while she walks. Her leg was getting worse and we were getting nervous she would have to be put down just because of the one joint (her brother had to be put down early because of severely bad hips that wouldn't hold him any longer.) When we go on walks, her hind leg would slip under her due to weakness, and often times she would fall on her keester. I found this brace - one of the few big enough for her swollen joint and that didn't cost $100's (if I'm not sure it's going to work, I don't want to pay that much). This is definitely doing the trick! Lady is 160 lbs and is now 8'sh. (Mastiff's usually range between 7-9 years.) Mind you it's not stiff, so it won't straighten out the slightly curved in joint/leg, or help with the swollen joint, but the slipping has definitely gotten better - which keeps her walking - which keeps her healthy - which keeps her with us. She can even run a bit with it without tripping on her back leg! I was happy to see her run again. She isn't afraid of the stairs anymore either (we try to keep her off the stairs as much as possible though).I definitely recommend this. If needed, we will purchase more for future rescues. For the price, it's definitely worth it.My only issue is, this was the biggest size and for one of the straps, it's barely hanging on. But, that comes with having a mastiff. And a mastiff with swollen joints. (This probably wouldn't have fit her 200 lbs brother.)The velcro is holding out with daily use, and when she walks through tall grasses and sage. I haven't noticed it getting funky, which is good. She doesn't mind it on her leg and it doesn't rub her raw (which I was worried about). When I say walk, she'll wait to have it put on.Some people were wondering how tight to make it. I just lay it against her and then push the velcro into itself. I don't pull on the velcro to make it tighter and you wouldn't want it slipping around either (or it would rub). Just tight enough to stay put and not slide around. It says it's for support - that's exactly what it does. Don't expect it to do more.Very pleased!

Not durable
Why did you pick this product vs others?:My dog chewed this off the first day. Not durable at all and I found that the idea is great but the material is garbage.

WELL, kinda disappointed! Maybe
Was kind of okay, and until this day my dog has never really recovered.I won't say that it's a bad product but unfortunately if my dog didn't get any better then it's hard for me to give a fair assessment of what I just purchased.Hope that might help.

but that I had purchased this brace hoping for a better result HE REFUNDED MY ORIGINAL PURCHASE
I cannot rave enough about this product, company, and the owner of this company. I have never had such a personable experience when buying any product, both online and in person. Most business' are done with consumers once their product has been purchased; this is far from the case with this particular company.I have a twelve year old boxer named Bella. She injured her ACL in 2010 and had corrective surgery. A few weeks ago she somehow injured her hock joint on the same leg. Her vet initially attempted to put her in a full splint that was not functional for her (picture a dog with a peg leg). She was too old and weak to function in that contraption and kept falling while it was on. So, I made the decision to remove that splint to keep her from created a whole new injury. However, it was clear that her hock joint was not going to magically reset and she needed some type of support. I searched Amazon for a brace and saw a brace that I thought would work for her. It was not this particular brace, the one I ordered was about an inch shorter on top and bottom. Unfortunately it did not support her enough. However, I came across this brace that was longer and appeared to offer more support. During this entire process the owner of this company was in contact with me and was checking on my dog. I'M SERIOUS =) When I communicated with him that the original brace didn't quite work, but that I had purchased this brace hoping for a better result HE REFUNDED MY ORIGINAL PURCHASE. He asked that I donate the original brace to a pet shelter and explained that he didn't want me to pay for a replacement product when the original didn't work. There are two positive sides to this experience. Yes, the owner has EXCELLENT business ethics, but the product is also working. Money isn't everything, I would have spent whatever I needed to get Bella better. But it was nice to know that the owner sympathized and genuinely wanted Bella to heal and feel better. A combination of anti-inflammatory medication, along with a strong MSM joint supplement and this brace, I have confidence that my old girl will heal and her pain will be eased.

Good idea and works with some caveats
I have a 13+ year retired old working dog. Her knees are arthritic but she thinks she can keep on moving. I had just a hock brace when she tore a ligament last year which I liked, but the chiropractic vet suggested something longer to wrap more of the leg. These do the trick and do help. However, she wears them everyday and I do remove them for time spells each day (usually at night) to give the leg opportunity to "breathe". It is an absolutely great idea and structure but I believe needs improvement. After 2 months the velcro straps are pretty much toast specifically the two bottom ones.Thicker neoprene like the hock wrap would be better even if were only at the bottom/top/middle. Consult with ortho vet might suggest the best placement. It would provide more stability yet be pliable. I have taken the thicker hock wrap( large) that I have and doubled up on top of these braces (medium) and it seems to help. I also think a left and right configuration would help. Trying to strap on the braces once or twice a day on the inside of the leg is doable but takes a bit more. That is minor but a suggestion for improvement. On the plus side, they breathe well, clean up and dry easily. We walk around on acreage that can be damp and muddy so a quick rinse and they dry easily
