My 6 year old LOVES this series
My 6 yo son got his hands on a copy of the 39 story tree house book over the summer and loved it, so when he earned a book after completing his first marking period, he wanted another from this series. He recaps the stories for me and they make zero grown up sense. They are a hilarious (to kids) romp of zaniness...I believe this one featured ninja snails. There is a fair amount of bathroom/gross out humor which I don't appreciate, but fortunately, my son isn't terribly amused by it either. Unfortunately, this sort of humor seems pretty prevalent in books for this age group. I am knocking one star because, in addition to the gross out humor, there is a lot of negative talk. My son actually commented to me that they frequently use "dumb" *stupid" and "idiot". The examples he showed me were from the bad guy, but if a six year old is noticing the excessiveness...that is definitely pretty excessive. We addressed it as we saw fit, but it's something I'm mindful of with future books in this series.

My kids love these books
These books are fun, creative, and with very nice illustrations. If you ignore the fact that the overall story is always the same, the middle of each book contains quite a bit of imagination and the kids just love it. I find this to be the case for many famous book series, such as Captain Underpants. These books are all built this way:1) The characters introduce themselves and their treehouse2) They describe all the new level additions (13 per book)3) Then they figure out that their new book is due to Mr Big Nose (the publisher) in less than 24 hours4) Here is where the whole story takes place (about 70% of the book)5) At the end of the story, they somehow get the book written and show it (about 15-20 pages wasted with small versions of all the pages you just read)6) Then they somehow manage to deliver it on timeI guess the formula works fine because my kids devour them!

Absolutely the perfect book for boys who like silly stories!!!
My 8 year old son has made me buy every single book in the series - he has lent them out to almost all of his friends, and he has re-read them. Maybe it's just my kid - but he absolutely loved the way this author wrote. It was a pure connection and I think it's because it's written so it's not a serious book, it's silly - and I can hear my son laughing when he reads it and talking to himself almost like he's put himself into the story talking to the charachters - it's hysterical.!!! I mean that's what the "perfect" book is intended to do - make you feel like you're in the story...All I can say - is kudo's to the author he did a great job - it was a pleasure to pay you for books that my son had hours and hours of enjoyment over. We really want to establish a love of reading which has been tough to do with him, and this book made it SOOOOOO easy!!!Thanks - 5 stars - I'd leave you more if possible.Regards,Joe.

8 yr old daughter favorite series
My daughter loves this series. The author came to her school to talk with the kids. He is a HOOT and such a nice guy, he was so great with the kids and had them all cracking up. The books are creative and fun to read. These are the first books that my daughter just can't put down or get enough of. I love to hear her giggling to herself in her room when she reads these books. I highly recommend the series. As the author says, you don't have to read them in order which is great.

Turned my Reluctant Reader into an Eager Reader
My 7 yo is a reluctant reader who struggles with reading and some vision/reading issues. However, these are so fun that he will read for over an hour at a time. This is the same kid who used to cry every night for his 15 min reading assignment. They were a bit over his grade level at the beginning of the year, but he loves them so much, that he is willing to work harder to figure out the more difficult words. I can tell he's understanding them because I'll hear him burst out giggling. The only negative is that there aren't a lot more of these books!

Kid favorite series books.
Andy Griffiths is a perfect author for kids. He really knows his target audience and I should know because I am a school librarian trying to keep enough of his Tree House series books on my library shelves. This book was purchased as a gift for my grandson.
