Fun Chinese Poems for Kids: delightfully illustrated, annotated with Pinyin, and full English translations Paperback – 19 November 2019

As a grandfather of four very young children (ages 2 to 5), and, as an avid reader, I am always looking for interesting reads. This unique book came to my attention as a result of a conversation with a long time friend. So, I ordered it, and just received it today!What a terrific book! First of all the author is a 11 year old (I think, a hardworking genius!) young lady named Vickie who is from New Jersey; she self describes herself, in addition to being a fourth grader as a part time writer for Magic Math Mandarin ! This wonderful book is in English, Mandarin Chinese, and has some ‘fun facts’ as the author describes! To boot, it has pinyin for those that don’t know how to pronounce Chinese words!What an utter delight in both reading the book and learning about this budding author!The book has wisdom from a very modern young lady about a very ancient and a proud culture from Aesop-like fables about family, taking care of aging, and cleverly exposes the reader to the 12 year cycle of Chinese Zodiac signs! Oh, and it has very American one liner jokes with each story! There are factoids about the oldest toys, origins of goldfish and other unique facts! And, helpful hints about how you may choose the color of your eyes to substitute for black used in a verse about the eyes!Well, I am impressed! I am delighted! There is going to be an order for four more of this book for each of my grandchildren!Vickie! This is a great addition to multi-cultural awareness. I recommend this book whole heartedly!

Wonderful little poems, wonderful illustrations...Love the jokes. It is a fun way to advance your Chinese. I love this little book even though I am an adult. Highly recommend
