I was told NOT to buy the newer version of the supplement and to stick to the OLD formula by Douglas Lab's..is there really a difference?

I'm in Canada, and the first bottle of Wobenzym N I bought at my local Natural supplement store was by Douglas Lab's. That was what is available here, and it was very expensive. Then I found out that I could order it on line from the United States for less than half the price. The distributor is Garden of Life but I ordered it twice on a deal through Amazon Marketplace, which showed me various providers, and I chose the cheapest provider. To answer your question, I found both products to be the same. For me Wobenzym N from Garden of Life seems to provide the same level of joint care and healing as the one from Douglas Lab's. I hope this is helpful for you.

Is this suitable for vegans? (No animal derived products, by products or testing)

It depends what you mean by "suitable". It's definitely not vegan, as some of the enzymes are derived from animals. If you're vegan due to allergies to animal based foods, it's for sure not suitable! Otherwise I guess it's your choice.

Just bought the 800 count bottle & bottle a weird strong smell almost like ammonia. Never noticed it before in 3+ years of use. Is odor normal?

It smells like "cat urine" -- you know; the cat box. Deal with it -- 'cause this stuff really works !!! I'm 67 and I've been using it for over 8 years -- and I'm now a believer. When I DON'T use it, the "arthritis" symptoms bother me in both hands, especially the knuckles. But when I use it -- the discomfort disappears in 3-4 days and I regain full range of motion in my hands and grip strength. GREAT STUFF and well worth the money. I'm a customer FOREVER !!

why does everyone say this isn't legit? I have a bottle here and it says "made in Germany."

El envio fue descrito que fue entregado los dos articulos, cuando realmente solo llego 1. el mismo empacado en un sobre y conteniendo la caja y el producto por dentro. pero la caja toda maltratada (aplastada). esto genera nversion de tiempo en correos y notas a diversos para conocer si se robaron el segundo producto, sino lo embarcaron, si existe, si lo enviaran o reintegraran el importe. finalmene avisan que lo enviaran ( el faltante ) y este llega en otro sobre igual de maltratado pero sin caja!!! Acerca del producto, todo correcto.

I had read about a couple of small studies that seemed to indicate that the Garden of Life Wobenzym N helped osteoarthritis pain. (Yes, this product is called Garden of Life Joint Support. But read the ingredients label. This is Wobenzym N. And I can put this version on Amazon Subscribe and Save.) But I had my doubts. My twisted spine has a lot more going on than simple osteoarthritis. I hurt intensely from my skull to my buttocks. However, I was suffering and at the end of my rope, so in spite of my doubts, I decided to try anything that had even a 1% chance of reducing my pain. I decided to try Garden of Life Wobenzym N. And I am so glad I made that decision! This Garden of Life Wobenzym N helps my back pain SO much. Even with all the disk involvement, the spurs, the spondo-whatsis! Garden of Life Wobenzym N is my miracle. My therapeutic dose seems to be 3 tablets per day, which is a much lower dose than the package recommends. So I have a lot of room to increase the dosage, if I need to. Like I told my pain management doctor, if I wasn't taking Garden of Life Wobenzym N, I would require a much higher dosage of prescription pain medication. Well, that's my story. I'm not saying Garden of Life Wobenzym N will work the same way for everyone. I'm just saying it's worth a try. What do you have to lose?
