A Vegan's Eye View
I bought this book in Kindle Edition and I have to say, it is full of great information for mothers or those wishing to conceive. I will say however, that the vegan section was a little lacking as it focuses heavily on soy. While I am glad to be included in a book about nutrition, vegans don't actually eat this way. There's a part called "Welcome to the World of Soy"... I think it said. I remember thinking, this isn't how things really are and soy is not the only source of vegan protein. While she does mention other non-dairy milks in a couple of locations I just thought the lack of seitan (wheat meat) a glaring error. It's got HUGE amounts of protein, but no mention. Kind of unfortunate, some people will read this and think that they must replace everything with soy products. I'm not anti soy, just pro-diverse diet. So, I still give it 4 stars because it wasn't a vegan book so I can't really say that it wasn't a good one. I'm glad there's an effort here.

It is in our kitchen 24/7 and we love it. So easy to read
Holy cow. What a lifesaver. My wife and I are pregnant with our first child. The insanity of owning your own business AND being pregnant is enough to drive you crazy. PLUS, now we have to watch everything she eats. My wife is very healthy anyway, but sometimes you just need a plan. The 7 day suggested eating plan was a Godsend. One trip to the grocery store and BAM a weeks worth of 2000 calorie, balanced, nutritious meals with snacks. This has made our lives so much easier. It is also very informative about what things you should eat or snack on as alternatives to your "normal" eating routine. It is in our kitchen 24/7 and we love it. So easy to read, so easy to follow, so easy to just pick out the parts you need. Great reference book and eating guide with REALLY good recipes. I hate meatloaf, but man, the recipe in the book made meatloaf that I did not know you could make. I LOVE it!!!

Good advice, mediocre recipes
The nutrition information is good; lots of suggestions of foods and meals to make sure everything you eat counts. Downside is that most of of the recipes are pretty bland and very low fat, which won't go far to keep you satisfied (pregnancy can make you pretty hungry!). Some recipes are relatively simple, others can be a bit overinvolved. It is a good starting point and does contain very good information specific to vegetarians.

Good nutrition education
I don't actually like the recipes as is but I make my own version. I like that it tells you what the health benefits are for each meal but I think calling a grilled cheese sandwich healthy is a bit of a stretch! However I do like the educational info in the front of the book.

pregnant or not, great recipes and advice even for a vegetarian like me
I purchased this book with a few others in preparation for starting to try to get pregnant. Although I am not pregnant, I have immediately started making the recipes in the book. It is very detailed, contains a lot of valuable and useful information, and extremely well organized. I am a vegetarian (modified), but eat milk cheese and eggs. This book is a great resource if you have any dietary needs or restrictions. the Chapters are easy to follow. it gives tips and lists for stocking your pantry. Each recipe contains approximate serving /nutrient values. I also love the fact that in each recipe under the title it tells you what the ingrediants are a good source of for example: iron, or calcium. The author uses only healthy fats, barely any sugar, and all fresh ingrediants. My husband is a meat eater and we both are active and try to maintain healthy eating habits both in and out of the house - this books gives us another means to do so! Thank you Eating for Pregnancy

An O.K. Cook book for beginners
I love to cook, and am a creative cook. I also know a lot about good nutrition for my body. I think this book is great if you really do not cook much using fresh whole foods, or need some ideas and guidance on some balanced eating ideas, but honestly, If you are already comfortable with nutrition and cooking, you can pass on this book if you are getting it for the principle of pregnancy eating alone.

Wonderful, detailed pregnancy resource
I LOVE this book! As a dietitian, I was looking for a good all-inclusive resource on eating during pregnancy. When I saw that a dietitian co-wrote this book, I wanted to give it a try. It is fabulous!! Now, it is very detailed at 472 pages. So, if you are looking for the quick facts on eating during pregnancy, this may not be the book for you. What I really love about this book is the recipe section. Each recipe tells you the nutrients it provides for mom and the nutrients it provides for baby. At the end of some of the recipes there are cooking, timesaving, storage and diabetic tips...also ideas on what sides dishes to serve along side it to make a complete meal...and of course the nutritional information.I am very pleased with this book!

One of the best recipe books, pregnant or not
I purchased this book based on some of the reviews I read here. I have to say, this has to be one of the best recipe books I've ever read. Many cook books are stocked with complicated recipes that require numerous expensive specialty ingredients, but this book is different. It is full of healthy, simple recipes using ingredients you can get from the supermarket or that you already have at home. Great for the mom that wants to eat healthy during her pregnancy but still has to feed the rest of the family too. There are also many non-food related tips and info for keeping healthy during pregnancy. I plan on using this book well after baby #3 is born.
