Rain Barrel Garden Spigot Kit - 3/4" Full Port PVC Ball Valve with Bulkhead Fitting Adapter

Used as a bulkhead drain valve on the back of a palludarium for my Amazon milk frogs. Works very well. Bulkhead and shutoff in one package. Can attach garden hose for draining with an adapter. This might also work well for rain barrels, etc.

I bought this valve to use for a drain for a bait tank i use kayak fishing in the ocean. it has good flow, easy to install, and no leaks. recommend!

I installed these in the bottoms of the automatic horse waterers at the stables. When the waterers need to be cleaned, the water shut-off value is closed, and the waterer is drained through one of these into a 5-gallon bucket. The plants get the grubby water, the waterer gets quickly and easily cleaned, and the horses always have fresh clean water.

I installed this on a storage bin that I use to hold live bait. I keep the bin on my covered patio that's a few feet from a set of stairs that lead down to a saltwater marina. The spigot kit makes occasional water changes much easier since I just drain the old water through the spigot and an attached hose, down to the stairs. I use a bucket to to grab clean water from the marina. The spigot kit is made of PVC so I don't need to worry about it corroding with the salt water. I could have purchased a bulkhead fitting and ball valve separately but it wasn't much cheaper and the valves were very bulky and much more difficult to turn. You also need to make sure they fit with one another. The valve that comes with this spigot kit has just the right amount of resistance. I have been using it to a few weeks now and have had no leaks. One thing I wish was offered was a strainer of some sort so my bait fish won't get sucked out when draining.

Drill 1 3/8 hole in galvanized or plastic tank or bucket. Insert halves into hole and tighten. May need pipe tape on the threads to prevent slight leaking. No big deal. I plan to order more of this and another tank fitting that the manufacturer offers.

Internal (to the barrel) fitting is octagonal shaped so a pipe wrench can be used to tighten if needed when installing. I had bought one at Home Depot (Lowe's was similar) earlier which had a round internal fitting, so very difficult to tighten. It was more expensive and I had to buy a spigot besides.I like the Van Enterprise spigot, it's easy to turn, and 3/4" open all the way, which matches my 3/4" hose. Whole assembly less cost than any other, or piecemeal parts.Van Enterprises is the best...and I am a customer NOT associated with the company. I now have 4 55 gal. "blue barrels" and 3 have Van spigots and if I get more barrels I will definitely buy Van's spigots for them.
