I spend a lot of time at home sitting at the computer working and thought this would be a useful item to place on my desk next to me to remind me to take a short break every hour. I selected this one because the price was right and it looked like it would do the trick.The hourglass came well packed. Sitting on my desk it is surprisingly elegant.The first time I turned it over I timed it and it ran out at exactly 59:55 an amazing five seconds shy of an hour. I don't know if they're all this accurate, but I consider that to be outstanding for a sand timer.About the only complaint I have is the brown sand is not as easy to see as some other colors might be, but I was pretty sure that would be the case when I ordered it anyway, so I'm not knocking any stars off because of that, besides, over the long haul a warm earth tone (and this is a pleasant shade of brown) is going to be more easy to live with than some of the bright colors I've seen used in some of these hourglasses.If you're looking for a one hour sand timer it would be difficult to improve on this one, unless you need a cage around it for protection.

I got this for timing while away from screens. It is beautiful and meditative. I researched and knew that sand timers were not 100% accurate and didn’t expect it to be. I timed this and it was 1 hour and 40 seconds. Not bad.

Aesthetic hourglass. Nice size, beautiful shape and sand color. It runs smoothly for 60 minutos with +- 2 minutes which is pretty good. I totally recommend this product. Just be careful. It’s fragile. If it falls on itself it shatters.I wanted to buy another one but there no longer available. I hope they have it again.

Beautiful in its simplicity. I was pleased to note that the glass seemed heavier and thicker than I'd anticipated and seems quite stable standing on its ends. Inaccurate but fairly consistent, mine measured about 3:40. That said, I purchased mine as an attractive desktop decoration and not for any timekeeping purposes and it serves this role well. The hourglass was wrapped in tissue paper and protected by a block of expanded polystyrene in two halves with an internal recess that conformed to the hourglass. The foam halves were taped together and placed in a snug cardboard box which was itself packed for shipping. A notice on the box indicated that had it been broken (mine was unblemished) the provided QR code could be scanned to send a photo of the broken item for replacement.

Very good timer overall.... but...My timer is about 25 minutes. Which is still fine for my purposes, I'm using it for pomodoro and 25 minutes is actually the traditional pomodoro duration.One other imperfection, a tiny bit of sand clings to the glass as the timer runs out. It actually makes some cool looking patterns and knocking the glass will cause it all to fall down and finish draining in seconds. But it doesn't look perfectly clean to have some sand stuck up on the edges of the glass. Easy to knock off, but the sand won't all drain entirely by itself.I got the white sand version and it looks very classy, the sand has a slight sparkle to it. I have noticed some extremely tiny black flecks in the white, but they are hardly visible and don't bother me. The glass is clear and sturdy, but it can get fingerprints on it from repeated use. I plan to build myself a wood frame for it, so I can keep the glass perfectly clean.

This hourglass is perfect. I have personally always admired them, but have had trouble finding actual HOUR glasses. This one, however, lives up to its name. As it came from China, it did take a month to arrive, but it was well worth the wait in both price and appearance. The glass is smoothly blown, and the cocoa sand has a rich, almost light purple color to it. I was concerned about the size at first, as it is listed at 5/6 inches. But as you'll see in the pictures, it's a hefty, petite size. I pictured it with my coffee mug to give you an idea of its dimensions. Certainly a good gift, or in my case, a calming addition to my work desk. I highly recommend this for anyone who would appreciate time in its most basic and simple, yet elegant form.

I absolutely love this hourglass. It's surprisingly fairly accurate where it would give or take a few seconds to an actual hour. Time is one of my favorite topics to discuss and think about and this hourglass helps me in this. It also provides me a bit of entertainment just watching the sand slowly pour down the neck of the hourglass and no batteries required! It's very well constructed and a great product overall. I would absolutely recommend.

The hourglass came quickly and packaged well. Having freed it from its styrofoam box, I noticed not a single fingerprint on the glass. The pirate black sand is lovely and - after running five timed trials - I found the average running time to be almost precisely one hour.I purchased this simply to satisfy my nostalgia for all things rooted in history, but I plan to use it for meditation and to satiate my OCD desire for satisfying visuals.I would highly recommend this item, either as a gift or for oneself.
